Equipment Field Mechanic at Conco Construction – Wichita, Kansas

Conco Construction is seeking an Equipment Field Mechanic to join our team. This role is vital in keeping our equipment and operations running smoothly by providing on-site service, repair, and maintenance for a variety of heavy construction equipment. The ideal Equipment Field Mechanic candidate will be self-motivated, safety-focused, and able to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Equipment Field Mechanic Responsibilities and Qualifications:

1. Diagnose and repair heavy and light construction equipment in the field, including loaders, excavators, skid steers, telehandlers, and trucks
2. Perform preventative maintenance and inspections to minimize downtime
3. Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues using proper diagnostic tools
4. Communicate effectively with superintendents and shop personnel regarding equipment status and needs
5. Complete service reports and maintain accurate documentation of work performed
6. Ensure safe work practices and maintain a clean and organized service truck and work area
7. Must have a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
8. CDL preferred but not required

Equipment Field Mechanic Preferred Qualifications:

1. Previous experience as a heavy equipment mechanic, field technician, or similar role
2. Strong mechanical knowledge, including hydraulics, electrical systems, diesel engines, and welding/fabrication skills
3. Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagnostic software
4. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Physical Requirements:

1. Must be able to lift 50 pounds or greater occasionally and 25-50 pounds frequently
2. Must be able to work outdoors and stand for majority of the day
3. Must be able to perform tasks while walking, climbing, bending, kneeling, crouching, reaching, and handling

Other Considerations:

1. All offers of employment are contingent upon successfully passing a background check, drug screen, and physical
2. Wages are based on experience and performance
3. Must be able to work extended hours and respond to emergency service calls as needed (normal operating hours 7:00 am – 4 pm)
4. Company service truck and tools provided for field work
