About This Position
The following duties and responsibilities, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA’s), and physical requirements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed. SUMMARY:
Under direct supervision of the Dean of Business and Career Professions, the incumbent will be responsible for all aspects of the program, including the organization, administration, continuous review, planning, development and general effectiveness of the Criminal Justice program as well as teach criminal justice classes. Evidence and demonstration of proficiency in instructional methodology, curriculum design, and program planning are required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Master’s Degree in criminal justice or Master’s Degree with 18 graduate semester hours in criminal justice.
Two (2) years criminal justice practitioner experience.
PREFERRED:
Five (5) years of local criminal justice practitioner experience.
Prior teaching experience.

Primarily light physical activity is required with occasional lifting and manipulation of objects up to 25 pounds. Keyboarding and computer use. Use of Audio/Visual equipment or equipment in an instructional setting.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is normally performed in an interior/office work environment. Travel to offsite centers may be required.
WORK SCHEDULE:
Schedule to be determined by the Dean of Business and Career Professions in accordance with the Faculty Load Policy.
This is an on-site position. Essential duties of the role must be performed in-person, during prescribed work hours.
HOURS REQUIRED PER WEEK:
As determined by the Dean of Business and Career Professions.

- Monitor and support student recruitment, enrollment, and retention efforts within departmental programs.
- Develop a departmental budget and manage financial and equipment resources.
- Ensure program rigor and academic standards.
- Develop, track, and report annual core curriculum objectives data.
- Develop and expand collaborative relationships with appropriate partnership to increase opportunities for faculty professional development, student experiences and employment opportunities, and equipment donations/use.
- Develop clear and innovative syllabi and course material.
- Integrate a diverse set of perspectives and ideas into course curriculum.
- Develop, evaluate, and report annual departmental goals.
- Create course schedules in accordance with established pathways and collaborative scheduling across the college.
- Lead and participate in criminal justice program recruitment activities.
- Advocate for departmental needs with college administration.
- Utilize advancements in technology to improve instructional methodology.
- Demonstrate innovative thinking to problem solve within the classroom, the department, and the institution.
- Demonstrate respect and professionalism with supervisors, colleagues, and students.
- Cultivate healthy teacher-student relationships.
- Hire, evaluate, guide, and mentor departmental faculty.
- Encourage and mentor faculty to engage students.
- Foster collegiality within the department.
- Facilitate and lead in evaluation, recommendation, development, and/or revision of department instruction/curriculum.
- Contribute to growth of the college by active involvement on task forces or committees.
- Demonstrate participation in activities that contribute to the growth of the community.
- Attend conferences, workshops, or programs to enhance professional growth.
- Participate in academic/professional organizations.
- Evidence a willingness to incorporate new concepts and theories to enhance professional growth.
- Maintain accessibility to students for advisement and consultation.
- Perform job-related duties as assigned.
