About This Position

SUMMARY:

The Market Segment Manager (MSM) will be responsible for a variety of responsibilities and tasks relating to ACO’s business segment of Food & Beverage. These functions include, but are not limited to, the following -

  1. Product planning in conjunction with senior Sales management, Operations, and Product Development. This includes the portfolio of functions and collateral that allow the ACO BD sales to successfully achieve sales goals in the market segment of Food & Beverage. The product planning function includes market evaluation, product design and a key part in ensuring the products are ‘fit for purpose’ in the US market. Also, identification of the tools required to support the products in the market.
  2. Product marketing in conjunction with the marketing department will produce and provide marketing tools to support specification and sales of market segment, this will include market research as required and attendance at Trade Shows.
  3. Commercial evaluation of competitive landscape to ensure ACO products are correctly positioned at required margins. Involvement in setting the commercial framework of trading is an essential part of this role.
  4. Provide a focal point of ‘person of authority, knowledge and excellence’ which can be used by the ACO BD Sales Group in discussions/presentations/involvements of meetings of importance with stakeholders, key specifiers and major contracts.
  5. Provide technical knowledge and support to products within market segment
  6. Be the individual to head up interaction with the ACO Group for products, market knowledge, developments relative to this market segment.
  7. Be the ACO representative to sit on standards committees, industry bodies or such non ACO organizations

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Determines customers' needs and desires by specifying research needed to obtain market information.
  • Recommends nature and scope of present, and future, product lines for market segment by reviewing product specifications and requirements, appraising new product ideas/developments.
  • Manage and communicate product changes both internally and externally.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with industry contacts/influencers.
  • Support network of market segment product distributors when required.
  • Responsible for overseeing product approvals with States/Municipalities in conjunction with ACO BD Sales Group.
  • Regularly perform pricing and competitive analysis and recommend strategies to improve market position, improve quality or reduce costs.
  • Assesses market competition by comparing the company's product to competitors' products.
  • Obtains market segment products market share to assist with strategic planning
  • Assesses market data for market segment products by calling on customers with field salespeople and evaluating sales call results.
  • Provides information for senior management as required.
  • Brings new products in market segment to market by analyzing proposed product requirements and product development programs, preparing return-on-investment analysis, establishing time schedules with engineering and manufacturing.
  • Introduces and markets new market segment products by developing time-integrated plans with sales, marketing, and production.
  • Determines product pricing by utilizing market research data, reviewing production and sales costs, and anticipating volume.
  • Completes operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees as required to fulfil business requirements of market segment and following up on work results.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks and participating in professional societies.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Act as a leader within the ACO BD Division.
  • Commitment to travel on a regular basis.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year College or university preferably in Engineering; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondences, and memos. Ability to write technical correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Excellent networking skills, communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Able to read engineering / architectural drawings.
  • Outside of box thinker; strong problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite products.

PHYSICAL DEMAND:

Will have contact with product; must be able to lift a minimum of 75lbs, and a maximum of 100lbs on an occasional basis.
