WELLNESS ASSISTANT

Full Time, Days

Job Summary:

• Assists residents with exercise protocol based on individual participant’s needs, goals and/or ability levels. Assists Wellness Director with resident evaluations and therapy referrals.
• Develops relationships with residents which encourages increased participation in exercise and wellness programs.
• Incorporate one on one transition assistance for assisted living residents moving into Independent Living. Instructs residents in safety orientation and procedures for use of equipment utilized independently and without staff supervision.
• Responds to emergency situations in accordance with the guidelines set forth in the Emergency Procedure Manual.
• Assist in planning and promoting wellness programs based on needs and interests of the residents. Conducts land and water group exercise classes in the absence of Wellness Director.
• Encourage social engagement through group exercise.
• Documents residents’ attendance and participation level in wellness programs.
• Attends appropriate in-service training programs.
• Assists in the proper maintenance, storage, and use of the wellness supplies.
• Assists with the set-up of the intern programs and special events.
• Puts resident’s service first. Ensures that residents and families receive the highest quality of service in a caring and compassionate atmosphere which recognizes the individual’s needs and rights.
• Performs other responsibilities as directed by the Wellness Director.

Job Requirements:

• High school degree or equivalent and a valid state issued driver’s license
• Certification in accordance with regulatory agencies governing the center
• CPR certified and Lifeguard certified
• Must be willing to work and cooperate well with other employees.
• Must use supplies economically. Will have prior authorization from Department Director before making purchases.
