POSITION SUMMARY:
The Certified Surgical Tech (CST) is responsible for assisting in surgical procedures by preparing the operating room, arranging equipment, and supporting the surgical team during operations. This role requires technical expertise, attention to detail, and a strong understanding of sterile techniques and surgical protocols. The CST plays a critical role in ensuring a safe and efficient surgical environment and contributes to positive patient outcomes.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare operating rooms for surgical procedures, ensuring all instruments and supplies are sterile and available.
- Assist surgeons and nurses during procedures by passing instruments and maintaining a sterile field.
- Monitor and maintain aseptic technique throughout surgical procedures.
- Count sponges, needles, and instruments before and after procedures to ensure accuracy.
- Operate and troubleshoot surgical equipment as needed.
- Transport patients to and from the operating room and assist with positioning.
- Clean and restock operating rooms after procedures.
- Maintain accurate documentation of procedures and equipment usage.
- Collaborate with surgical team members to ensure optimal patient care.
- Adhere to infection control and safety protocols at all times.
REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of an accredited surgical technology program.
- Current certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST).
- BLS certification required.
- Minimum of 1–2 years of experience in a surgical setting preferred.
- Strong knowledge of surgical procedures, instruments, and sterile techniques.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.

- Exerting up to twenty-five pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.

- Have close visual acuity to perform an activity including viewing a computer terminal, extensive reading, interpretation, etc.
- Must possess the physical, mental, and cognitive skills needed to complete essential tasks, including abilities such as learning, remembering, focusing, categorizing, and integrating information for comprehension, problem-solving, and timely decision-making.
