A Materials Expediter is a vital component within the supply chain and logistics sectors, tasked with ensuring the seamless flow of materials and components required for production and operational processes. This role is critical in industries where timely procurement and distribution directly impact the efficiency, schedule adherence and profitability of the business. In this newly formed role, you will work to ensure timely delivery of purchased material by coordinating with suppliers, tracking purchase orders, resolving delays, and liaising between procurement, production, engineering, program office and various organizations to remove roadblocks in the supply base.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with suppliers, purchasing, material availability teams and other internal teams to resolve any issues related to material shortages or delays
  • Work closely with suppliers to manage lead times, quality issues and delivery performance
  • Act as a liaison between suppliers, purchasing, warehouse staff, and production teams to coordinate deliveries and material movement.
  • Collaborate with production, engineering and logistics teams to align material deliveries with project schedules and specifications
  • Contact vendors, verify supplies and communicate with suppliers to determine expected delivery dates and inform Project Managers of potential delays.
  • Follow-up with suppliers to determine schedule restoration plans and corrective actions to ensure delivery performance, and/or monitor activities during the product manufacturing/shipment
  • Identify and resolve issues related to material shortages, delays, damaged goods, or incorrect orders at the suppliers
  • Travel to suppliers on a regular basis

***This position is currently based out of our facility in East Greenwich RI. It will be transitioning to our new facility in Waterford CT when it is ready.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalency
  • 3+ years of experience in material management, supply chain logistics, engineering preferably in a manufacturing environment
  • Frequent monthly travel to various suppliers will be required
  • Proficient in using all Microsoft Office products, specifically Excel: VLOOKUP, pivot tables, macros and graph/charts
  • Applicant must possess or be able to secure secret or higher DOD clearance

Preferred Requirments:

  • Bachelor's Degree or Bachelor's degree or higher in related areas such as Supply Chain Management, Engineering or Business Administration
  • Purchasing and vendor management experience highly desirable
  • Experience traveling to and supporting multiple suppliers
  • Experience with LEAN manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies
  • Strong outfitting or machining experience and knowledge of deck and module construction
  • Experience and knowledge of Virginia and/or Columbia construction
  • ARTEMIS, Construction / Design, MRPII or TEAMCENTER experience
