Position Description

The Manufacturer/ Laborer supports roadway and site construction projects by manufacturing different paving products and packaging them. This role is responsible for assisting in manufacturing different products. Loading and unloading trucks with various liquid asphalt products.

Essential Functions:

The following list is intended to be exemplary of the physical demands of the position however it is not exhaustive of all day-to-day functions. The incumbent will be required to perform any or all of the following in a given day or week:

  1. Assist with the production on manufacturing different paving materials
  2. Perform daily equipment inspections
  3. Communicate with truck drivers and crew during loading operations
  4. Assist with maintenance and preventative maintenance
  5. Support other employees and drivers at the facility
  6. Maintain safe and clean work site
  7. Load and unload materials
  8. Assist operators, foreman, and mechanics as directed
  9. Report hazards, incidents, and equipment issues immediately


Position Requirements

  1. High school diploma or equivalent
  2. Fork lift operation a plus but can train
  3. Valid driver's license required
  4. Lift 50-80 lbs regularly
  5. Stand, walk, bend, and climb for extended periods
  6. Work in outdoor weather conditions (heat, cold, dust, noise)
  7. Ability to work around moving heavy equipment

Work Conditions:

Incumbent must be able to tolerate moderate to loud noise level (PPE will be provided, including hearing protection as required), long hours standing, walking, and laboring outdoors in varying weather conditions – frequently in extreme heat.

The physical demands described below are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, use hands, reach with hands and arms, handle, feel, talk, see, and listen. The employee must be able to push levers forward and backwards. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, climb stairs, stoop, bend, twist, kneel and crouch. Employee may sit for an hour or more at a time.

Supervisory Scope:

None.

Independent Action:

Performs work independently within scope of established guidelines and practices. Consults with Foreman where clarification or exception to procedure may be required.
