Job Description
Job Summary
The Laundry Attendant plays a key role in supporting the guest experience by
ensuring all hotel linens, towels, and uniforms are cleaned, processed, and
presented to the highest standards. This position contributes to overall guest
satisfaction by maintaining consistent quality, cleanliness, and timely
availability of laundry items in accordance with hotel standards and applicable
collective agreements.
Responsibilities
· Sort, inspect, and classify linens, towels, and uniforms by type, color, and condition; identify and pre-treat stains to meet hotel quality standards.
· Operate washers, dryers, and related laundry equipment in accordance with established procedures, safety standards, and manufacturer guidelines.
· Accurately load and unload machines, using appropriate detergents and cleaning agents for different fabric types and soil levels.
· Monitor wash and dry cycles to ensure proper cleaning, prevent damage, and maintain linen longevity.
· Fold, organize, and distribute clean linens and uniforms to designated storage areas or departments in a timely manner.
· Maintain a clean, safe, and organized laundry facility, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
· Track and maintain linen inventory levels; report shortages, damages, or discrepancies to the Supervisor.
· Conduct routine inspections of laundry equipment and report maintenance issues promptly to minimize operational disruptions.
· Support housekeeping and other departments by prioritizing urgent laundry needs to ensure seamless guest service.
· Adhere to all hotel policies, procedures, and brand standards, as well as occupational health and safety requirements.
· Perform duties in compliance with the terms and conditions of the applicable collective agreement (if applicable).
· Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
· Previous experience in a hotel laundry, housekeeping, or similar environment is preferred.
· Equivalent combination of training and experience will be considered.
· WHMIS certification is required or must be obtained upon hire.
· Strong attention to detail with a commitment to maintaining high cleanliness and presentation standards.
· Understanding of the impact of laundry operations on overall guest satisfaction.
· Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
· Good time management and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks.
· Ability to follow standard operating procedures, safety guidelines, and hotel policies consistently.
· Professional, respectful, and cooperative approach when interacting with colleagues across departments.
· Flexibility to work shifts, including weekends and holidays, in accordance with operational needs and collective agreement provisions (if applicable).
· Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, push/pull carts, and stand for extended periods.
