TK Specialist at Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Redlands - Riverside – Redlands, California

TITLE: TK – Kinder Youth Development Specialist (full-time, non-exempt)

Salary Range: $21.00

DEPARTMENT: Programs

REPORTS TO: TK Site Coordinator

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

TK Youth Leaders work with members in grades TK-Kindergarten and sometimes 1st grade at the Boys & Girls Clubs Hansberger Clubhouse. Our TK Youth Leaders make a positive impact in a child’s life every single day. Youth Leaders are role models and mentors. Together with their team, they work to foster the 5 key elements of Boys & Girls Clubs: A Safe, Positive Environment, A Sense of Belonging, Fun, Opportunities and Expectations, and Recognition. (This is a contracted position partnering with Redlands Unified School District staff to work on the school calendar schedule.)

Key responsibilities include:

• Maintain a staff-to-member ratio of 1 staff to 10 members.
• Must be available to work between the hours of 6:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.
• Driving the Club vans to transport youth to and from school.
• Motivate and encourage program participation with members.
• Provide homework/academic support.
• Provide a safe environment for members through active supervision, setting clear expectations and maintaining clean program areas.
• Create an engaging, positive, and developmentally appropriate environment for members.
• Provide constant, active supervision; implement and follow BGCGRR behavioral guidelines.
• Provide guidance, affirm positive behavior and act as a role model and mentor to members.

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:

High School diploma or GED, required.

Degree in Childhood Education or 48 Early Childhood Education credits, required or a passing score on the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) test.

Knowledge of youth development stages, is required.

Ability to motivate youth and manage behavior.

Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.

Ability to plan and implement quality activities for youth.

Ability to organize and supervise youth in a safe environment.

Candidates must be 18 years or older.

Valid State Driver’s License and Current Auto Insurance.

Must clear Background checks, Drug Screen, & Employment Physical.

CPR & First Aid Certifications - required within 90 days of hire (we provide certification courses).

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

• Physically able to work with children (capable of bending, squatting, twisting, and standing on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis.
• Ability to grasp, push, and pull objects such as files, carts, and file cabinet drawers and reach overhead.
• Ability to lift 25 lbs. and multi-task.
• The job requires about 50% walking, 30% standing, and 20% sitting.

Note: This position will be in-person working at the Hansberger Clubhouse and providing transportation for youth. We are taking all necessary precautions to ensure our employees' safety.
