About This Position
Job Summary:
Provides assistance and support to surgeons by preparing and providing instrumentation and equipment during surgery and/or procedures performed in the Operating Room.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
· Communicate effectively with patients, visitors and other health care providers.
· Ensure availability of supplies and equipment, process sterile instrumentation and equipment.
· Performs housekeeping duties as necessary.
· Utilize sterile technique while setting up and assisting physician.
· Assist in direct patient care when necessary.
· Participate in call schedule.
· Maintain a clean and organized work environment.

· As assigned.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILL/ABILITIES:
· Knowledge and competency in OR technology and central service.
AGE-RELATED COMPETENCIES: Demonstrates the basic knowledge and skills necessary to identify age-specific patient needs appropriate for this position.
Information Management: Treats all information and data within the scope of the position with appropriate confidentiality and security.

MINIMUM POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
Ø Education – High school diploma or equivalent.
Ø Work Experience – One year in an OR or CS department required or successful completion of an accredited Surgical Technologist/OR Technologist program preferred.
Ø License/Certification – BLS required within 6 months of hire; CST preferred.
ENVIROMENTAL CONDITIONS: Work environment consists of daily patient contact, which may include exposure to blood, or other body fluids.
Physical Demands: Frequent standing, walking, and interaction with patients and staff. Must be able to push, pull, and lift up to 25 pounds as part of routine duties.
