About This Position

Manhattan University, an NCAA Division I institution and member of the Metro-Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC), is seeking a qualified candidate for a full-time position of Assistant Athletic Trainer to work with our 21 Division I sport programs. This position assists the Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine/Head Athletic Trainer and staff with the safety and welfare of the student-athletes.

This is an in-person, on-campus, non-remote position.

Position Reports To: Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine / Head Athletic Trainer
  • Assist the Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine/Head Athletic Trainer with the day to day operations of the athletic training room.

  • Provide treatment and care to injured athletes.

  • Serve as liaison between team physicians, athletic administrators and coaches.

  • Maintain comprehensive medical documentation.

  • Assist with the administering of institutional drug testing programs, game/event and practice coverage and team travel.

  • Collaborate with assistant athletic trainers and supervise work study students.

  • Assist with the processing of secondary insurance claims.

  • Assist with pre-participation health screens.


  • NATABOC certified, NY State licensed or eligible. CPR / AED certified.

  • Strong computer, interpersonal and organizational skills.

  • Ability to travel, work evenings, weekends and some holidays as needed.

  • Master’s degree in Athletic Training or related field.

  • 2+ years of experience in higher education or professional sports setting.

  • Ability to work evenings, weekends and some holidays as needed.

  • Possess a valid driver’s license.

  • Ability to lift equipment on occasion and work in various environmental conditions.

  • Ability to foster positive relationships and create partnerships with a wide range of constituent groups.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, strong attention to detail and keep specific timelines.

  • Working knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.

  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with the ability to problem solve.
