Job Summary

The Maintenance Mechanic at Anita’s Mexican Foods is responsible for maintaining the reliability and safety of all production and facility equipment. This hands-on role focuses on preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and supporting high-speed food production operations to minimize downtime and ensure efficient performance.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Perform mechanical preventative maintenance on all production and facility equipment.
  • Fill out Maintenance Breakdown Report, RCA’s, SQF, and other reports as needed.
  • Also, ensure that production lines are operating efficiently and safely, so that the highest quality of product may be provided to our customers.
  • Fill out the Daily Maintenance report on a daily basis to include PM schedule reports.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve any mechanical repairs as they occur.
  • Promote company policy and philosophy.
  • Provide preventative maintenance and lubrication for all machines
  • Works closely with Production Operators, PMO’s Supervisors/Managers.
  • Implements preventative maintenance procedures and ensures they are accomplished on time.
  • Complete daily maintenance reports.
  • Follow GMP’s, Quality & Food Safety Programs as noted in the SQF Code and in the company’s Food Safety and Quality Manual.
  • Familiar with Food Safety and Sanitation Standards pertaining to food safety.
  • Recommends improvements, including capital items to upgrade operations, reduce costs, and improve quality.
  • Must communicate with other department Supervisors and Managers regarding issues that occur during their shift.
  • Must be able to multitask and work in adverse conditions, perform under pressure, and be willing to put in extra time as required to minimize production downtime.
  • May be assigned other work as deemed necessary
Requirements:
  • Minimum 2–3 years of maintenance experience in a food manufacturing or production environment.
  • Experience performing mechanical preventive maintenance (PMs), including lubrication, inspection, and replacement of wear components (bearings, belts, chains, gearboxes, motors).
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair mechanical equipment in a production environment.
  • Experience working with conveyors, packaging equipment, and processing machinery.
  • Working knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, and basic electrical systems.
  • Experience with work orders or CMMS systems to document maintenance activities.
  • Understanding of GMP, sanitation, and food safety standards in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and written procedures.
  • Attention to detail with a focus on equipment reliability and safety.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, production-driven environment and respond to downtime situations.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Additional Requirements
  • Own tools required
  • Forklift experience preferred
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including weekends and rotating shifts
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred

Schedule: 3rd Shift (9:00 pm - 5:30 am)

** Will train on 1st shift (5:00 am - 1:30 pm) for the first few weeks, then transition into 3rd shift schedule.

  • Stand and walk for extended periods
  • Walk on uneven ground and wet or slippery floors
  • Twisting, turning, kneeling, stooping, and bending most of the day
  • May be required to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Exposure to spices (allergens), including but not limited to soy and wheat
  • Exposure to high noise levels and a high-heat environment

PPE - Hair and beard net, chemical-resistant and anti-slippery rubber boots, safety glasses, face shield, earplugs, bump hard cap, chemical-resistant overalls and gloves with long sleeves, and apron.
