Position Title: Part–Time Recreation Program Coordinator
Position Characteristics: Non-seasonal, up to 20 hours per week, no benefits.
Flexible Schedule including, weekdays, evenings, Saturdays, Sundays, holidays.
Position Purpose:
Plan, promote, implement, and evaluate recreation programs and events for Cottonwood Heights Parks & Recreation. Oversee youth programs, sports (including tennis/pickleball), and facility operations while ensuring safety, quality service, and community engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and manage recreation programs based on community needs, budgets, and participation.
- Promote programs through marketing and community outreach.
- Hire, train, schedule, and supervise seasonal staff.
- Track budgets, attendance, and program performance; adjust as needed.
- Maintain strong community relations and respond to patron inquiries or concerns.
- Oversee facility areas (gym, fitness rooms, courts, ice arena) to ensure safety and compliance.
- Support front desk operations, events, and cross-department needs as required.
Requirements:
- Strong communication, organization, and supervisory skills.
- Experience with budgeting, program planning, and recreation or sports (tennis preferred).
- Ability to manage staff, ensure safety, and deliver high-quality programs.
Performance Expectations:
- Deliver well-organized, safe, and engaging programs.
- Maintain effective staff leadership and positive public relations.
- Ensure facilities and programs meet participation and quality goals.
Qualifications:
Training/Education/Certification:
- Current American Red Cross or American Heart Association CPR, First Aid, AED for Adults & Children certification as of hire date, or within 90 days of hire.
- Approved Criminal Background Investigation check if over 18 years of age.
- Approved driving record.
Preferred Knowledge:
- Competent in computer programs to include: Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, TEAMS, ect.)
- Knowledge of safety rules and standards.
- Knowledge of general budget, hiring, and scheduling practices.
- Knowledge of sports and programming activities.
- Organization of special events is desirable.
Experience Preferred:
- Two years of directly related paid experience in recreation programming.
- One year of Supervisory experience.
Skills/Abilities:
- Good physical condition.
- Ability to relate well and communicate with others.
