Reports to: Executive Chef

Statement of Purpose

The Steward is essential to our success at the Key Biscayne Yacht Club kitchen and plays a vital role in providing an exceptional experience for our Members. The Steward plays a key role in each and every Member’s experience, directly and indirectly. They know how to help their coworkers while also having the ability to know when to ask for help. The Steward executes cleaning, washing, and storing all dishes, utensils, glassware, and food prep equipment in addition to other responsibilities. The Steward goes above and beyond to ensure all dining and kitchen needs are met to exceed Member expectations.

Primary Duties

• Sort and rinse dirty dishes, glass, tableware, and other cooking utensils and place them in racks to send through dish machine.
• Sort and stack clean dishes. Carry clean dishes to cook's line and other proper storage areas. Rewash soiled dishes before delivering.
• Remove trash and garbage to dumpster.
• Set up or break down dishwashing area.
• Clean and roll/unroll kitchen mats.
• Fill/empty soaks tubs with cleaning/sanitizing solutions; (Changing sanitizing solutions as often as needed not exceeding a 1hr limit.)
• Wipe up any spills to ensure kitchen floors remain dry.
• Sweep/mop kitchen floors.
• Notify manager any time dish machine wash or rinse cycle falls below safety standard temperatures.

• Ability to follow KBYC service standards.
• Ability to work within the following conditions: wet floors, temperature extremes, and loud noise.

• Verbal and written communication skills in English is required.
• Verbal and written communication skills in Spanish is preferred.
• Verbal communication skills in other languages is a plus.

• High School qualification or equivalent is required.

• Available to work late nights, weekends, holidays, and long hours as necessary.
