Job Overview
The SDK team within AGS is responsible for designing, developing, and implementing both front and back-end features for use by our internal game studios, as well as leading and supporting company-wide initiatives to introduce the most modern technologies and frameworks into both internal and customer-facing products. Developers within SDK work both inside and outside of our game systems primary codebase to create comprehensive solutions to new requirements and challenges faced by our engineering teams in bringing games to market. Our team places a high value on distribution of knowledge and skills throughout all members, as well as the flexibility to work alone, in groups, or with engineers outside our own team in order to identify and implement creative solutions in gameplay, engine, and platform systems.
Responsibilities:
- Software Engineer IIs on the SDK team are responsible for development of both Platform and Game Presentation features.
- You will be an active contributor in all aspects and stages of development, from participating in prototyping, requirements gathering and design, to implementation, documentation, deployment and maintenance.
- You will regularly act as a liaison between SDK team and Game Studios to communicate what the game platform can do, assist in solving technical challenges, and identify solutions to allow game requirements to work within the platform.
- Your knowledge and skills will be called upon to diagnose and implement optimizations or author coding or memory management strategies to improve game performance.
- You may be recruited to research or prototype new features or experimental changes to help improve the platform as a whole.
- This position requires a strong work ethic, a desire for continued self-improvement, and the willingness to engage with new or unfamiliar technologies or frameworks in search of the best solutions.
- It requires a commitment to being a positive contributor in both a group dynamic as well as independently, and to efficiently regulate workload within the teams set objectives.
Skills & Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in computer science, software engineering or equivalent.
- 5+ years professional software development experience.
- 3+ years of Unity3D or equivalent game development experience.
- Contributor to one or more shipped or live products having participated in both design and development activities.
- Excellent knowledge of C# including language fundamentals, OOP design practices and common patterns.
- Knowledge of effective testing solutions and tools, as well as strategies for memory and time optimization and verification.
- Demonstrate the capability to communicate efficiently and effectively in both written and oral forms.
- Demonstrate the capacity for organized, clear problem-solving skills even when faced with new or unfamiliar information.
- Strong internal motivation to be a team player within a fast-paced, customer-oriented development environment.
Preferred Skills:
- Shipped project(s) using the Unity3D engine.
- Professional experience within the casino gaming or slot gaming sectors.
- Skills or knowledge of networking systems TCP/UDP communication or multiplayer systems at a professional level.
- Skills or knowledge of graphics pipelines, rendering processes or image processing at a professional level.
- Professional experience relating to testing frameworks or test automation.
- Experience developing and deploying within a cloud architecture or containerized system architecture.
