Senior Construction Project Manager Drive Operational Excellence in Heavy Civil & Street Rehab

Job Overview

  • Salary/Pay Rate: $110,000 - $135,000 per year (based on experience) plus Performance Bonus.

  • Location: Kansas City, KS.

  • Job/Employment Type: Full-Time.

  • Schedule: Monday Friday.

  • Project Scope: Heavy Civil, Dirt Work, Concrete, and Street Rehabilitation.

  • Mandatory Licenses & Certifications: None Required.

The Opportunity

You will take the helm of high-visibility civil projects, serving as the primary link between strategic planning and field execution. This role empowers you to manage multi-million dollar budgets and diverse teams while ensuring every build meets Gunters elite standards for quality and safety. You will have the authority to drive profitability and the satisfaction of seeing your projects reshape the Kansas City landscape.

How You Will Make an Impact
  • Direct full project lifecycles from pre-construction planning and Bid2Win estimation to final clean closeout.

  • Validate project progress through rigorous WIP reporting, forecasting, and margin protection strategies.

  • Partner with field leadership to translate complex plans into executable daily operations and two-week look-aheads.

  • Manage client and owner representative relationships to ensure clear communication and repeat business opportunities.

  • Optimize project profitability by efficiently handling change orders, cost-coding, and subcontractor pay applications.

  • Monitor on-site safety practices and quality control to ensure strict adherence to APWA and DOT specifications.

  • Resolve potential logistical or budgetary variances proactively before they impact the project schedule.

Required Qualifications & Experience
  • Minimum of 7 to 15+ years of construction project management experience in heavy civil or dirt work.

  • Bachelors degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.

  • Strong technical proficiency in Bid2Win, PlanSwift, and advanced Microsoft Excel.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of KCMO, MoDOT, and KDOT standard specifications.

  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and cross-functional teams simultaneously.

Preferred Qualifications & Experience
  • Extensive background in municipal street rehabilitation and large-scale concrete infrastructure.

  • Demonstrated success in navigating complex RFI logs, submittals, and permit requirements.

  • Experience leading weekly safety meetings and conducting Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) reviews.

  • Proven ability to leverage job cost data, effectively schedule self-perform labor, and drive production performance.
