Outpatient Services Representative at Shore Medical Center – Somers Point, New Jersey

Position Summary
Provides general clerical and secretarial duties for assigned outpatient department. Work responsibilities include all aspects related to registration and scheduling including but not limited to: pre-certification, insurance authorizations, and patient scheduling. Maintains an effective workflow to supports the daily operation between the technical/clinical staff, patients and medical staff. The Outpatient Services Representative accepts oversight, daily assignments and training from the Program Director of Cardiopulmonary Rehab.

Core Job Responsibilities
• Checks patients in and out of visit appointments.
• Pre-registers patients in accordance with standard operating procedures.
• Schedules patients for consultations and follow-up visits, including Registered Dietician appointments where applicable.
• Compiles chart information prior to appointments.
• Gathers all of patients completed forms and activates registration with all required input from patient.
• Performs or follow-ups on insurance eligibility and verification status checks on all services according to standard operating procedures.
• Identifies which services that will require prior authorization as required by each patient’s insurance and obtains those authorizations.
• Ensures that all providers that are identified by the patient, receive a report of the office visit in a timely manner, as requested.
• Reviews the accuracy and consistency of medical record documentation and brings any inconsistencies to the attention of the office reporting director.
• Provides care to patients in an organized and systematic manner according to institutional policy in keeping with patient safety principles.
• Performs direct and indirect patient care activities following RN and Exercise Physiologist instructions, physician orders, policies, procedures and regulations, as requested.
• Compiles chart information upon patient discharge from the program, files according to policy, and communicates with HIMS when applicable.

Qualifications
• High School Diploma/GED/Equivalent Work Experience
• 1 years’ experience in medical office setting preferred
• EMR experience preferred
• BLS certification through the American Heart Association or obtained within 3 months of hire
• Ability to problem solve and critically think
• Detail Orientedy

Salary Range - $18.04 - $25.53 hourly (Based on experience)
