About the role
As an HR Coordinator, you’ll play a key role in supporting the People & Performance team, providing high‑quality coordination and administrative support across core HR services. This is a developmental HR role, ideal for someone early in their HR career who is keen to build capability across the employee lifecycle while contributing to a positive and consistent employee experience.
You’ll work closely with the wider HR, Payroll, OD and Change teams, using digital platforms and well organised processes to support recruitment, onboarding, HR operations and people initiatives. Through your attention to detail and proactive approach, you’ll help ensure People related services are reliable, trusted, and delivered smoothly across the cooperative.
What you'll do
- Provide accurate, timely and well organised administrative and coordination support across core People processes.
- Maintain HR systems, records and documentation to a high standard, ensuring privacy, governance and record‑keeping requirements are met.
- Coordinate HR workflows, scheduling and communications to support the delivery of effective people services.
- Support end‑to‑end recruitment activities, including advertising, candidate communication, interview scheduling and pre‑employment processes.
- Act as a point of contact for candidates, supporting a professional and values‑aligned recruitment experience.
- Coordinate onboarding activities, including pre‑start requirements, induction materials and system access.
- Support organisational development and change initiatives through administration, logistics coordination and preparation of materials.
- Assist with the rollout of engagement surveys and people initiatives, supporting participation tracking and communications.
- Build effective working relationships across the People & Performance team and the wider business.
- Contribute ideas and improvements to enhance HR processes, templates and ways of working.
About you
You’re organised, curious and eager to learn, with a genuine interest in building a career in HR. You enjoy working behind the scenes to make things run smoothly and take pride in delivering accurate, well‑structured work.
You’re comfortable handling confidential information, can manage competing priorities, and build positive relationships with people at all levels of the organisation. You bring a proactive mindset and enjoy contributing to continuous improvement, particularly through the smart use of systems and processes.
Ideal skills & experience
- A tertiary qualification in HR or a related discipline or working towards one (or equivalent experience).
- 12–18 months’ experience in an administrative role, ideally within HR or supporting senior leaders.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel, and the ability to quickly learn new systems.
- Excellent time management and prioritisation skills.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven ability to work with confidential and sensitive information.
- Ability to build effective working relationships across a diverse organisation.
Desirable:
- Exposure to HR practices or end‑to‑end recruitment.
- Understanding of New Zealand employment legislation.
- Interest or experience in continuous improvement and the use of AI in HR.
