Description:

Summary: The essential responsibilities of the CDL Class A Driver include safe and timely delivery of materials to customer job sites while ensuring compliance with all DOT regulations and company safety standards. This role includes performing vehicle inspections, following assigned delivery routes, unloading and placing materials as needed, and accurately documenting deliveries using company systems. The driver must be comfortable performing physically demanding tasks and providing excellent customer service on job sites. This position reports to the Warehouse Supervisor.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of truck and trailer using a standardized checklist to ensure safe and compliant operation.

2. Accurately complete and maintain mileage logs and driving records located in assigned vehicles.

3. Safely operate a CDL Class A vehicle to transport materials along assigned delivery routes according to daily schedules.

4. Follow established delivery schedules and routes, adjusting as needed based on traffic, site conditions, or business needs.

5. Utilize the company’s DQ system to document deliveries, including capturing proof-of-delivery photos and confirming completion of deliveries.

6. Load and unload materials, including independently unloading deliveries when assistance is not available.

7. Manually move, carry, and stock materials at job sites and within structures as required by customer needs.

8. Transport and place materials such as drywall and other building products in designated areas on job sites.

9. Perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, carrying, and moving materials weighing 80lbs. or more.

10. Adhere to all company safety policies, DOT regulations, and job site safety requirements at all times.

11. Communicate effectively with dispatch, yard personnel, customers, and supervisors to ensure timely and accurate deliveries.

12. Assist with general yard or warehouse tasks as needed and directed by the warehouse supervisor.

13. Maintain cleanliness and basic upkeep of assigned vehicle.

14. Perform other duties as assigned by the Warehouse Supervisor.

Work Environment:

This position regularly operates in outdoor environments and is exposed to a variety of weather conditions. The role may involve extended periods of driving and working in environments with extreme temperatures, high noise levels, and wet or humid conditions. The employee is required to use communication devices to perform essential job functions.

Physical Requirements:

The physical requirements described here are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. The employee is required to sit for prolonged periods of time while driving (up to approximately 80% of the workday). Frequent use of hands and arms to handle, move, and position materials. Frequent walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, and crouching during loading and unloading activities. Ability to regularly lift, push, and pull materials weighing up to 80 pounds or more. Ability to talk, hear, and maintain awareness of surroundings for safety purposes.

Position Type / Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time, non-exempt position. The typical work schedule is Monday through Friday, with hours generally falling between 6:00 AM and 3:00 PM. Start and end times may vary based on delivery schedules and business needs.

Requirements:

Required Education / Experience / Skills:

1. Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).

2. Valid DOT Medical Card.

3. Minimum of 1 year of commercial driving experience with a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record.

4. Experience operating a Forklift and Moffett Lift required.

5. Boom Truck operating experience preferred but not required.
