Position Summary
The Painter is responsible for applying high-quality finishes to aluminum products using spray-painting equipment. This role requires strong attention to detail, a commitment to safety, and a team-oriented mindset with openness to continuous improvement. The Painter reports to the Manufacturing Unit Leader (MUL) over Fabrication.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Develop working knowledge of materials, products, and processes within the department
- Prepare products for painting, including sanding and masking/taping as required
- Operate painting and preparation tools such as spray guns, drills, and sanding equipment
- Mix and match paints to meet job specifications and color requirements
- Coordinate with the Purchasing Department to order paint and related supplies
- Successfully complete and maintain respirator fit test requirements
- Build shell pectins when requested
- Read and interpret technical documents, including diagrams, blueprints, schematics, and written or verbal instructions
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
- Follow all company and industry safety standards and procedures
- Identify defective or nonconforming items and handle them per established procedures
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Ability to read a tape measure to 1/16-inch increments
- Ability to read and understand blueprints and technical drawings
- Strong attention to detail and consistency in work quality
- Ability to perform basic maintenance and minor repairs on equipment
- Basic proficiency in math, reading, and writing
- Lean or continuous improvement experience preferred
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- 1–2 years of painting experience preferred (industrial or manufacturing environment a plus)
