About This Position
The Production Supervisor reports directly to the Plant Superintendent and is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the department. This role ensures that production schedules are met, product quality remains high, equipment and materials are used efficiently, and employees within the department are properly supervised and trained. The Production Supervisor is also responsible for maintaining safety standards, enforcing company policies, and supporting the overall production flow of the plant.
Requirements:Leadership and Workforce Management
- Experience supervising employees in a manufacturing or production environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to lead, train, and support employees.
- Ability to promote teamwork and cooperate effectively with other supervisors and departments.
- Commitment to maintaining low absenteeism, reducing turnover, and strengthening the workforce through training and development.
Production and Operations Oversight
- Knowledge of production processes and the ability to meet daily production schedules while maintaining product quality.
- Strong planning and organizational skills to prevent delays and maintain steady production flow.
- Focus on reducing scrap, improving efficiency, and maintaining consistent output.
Equipment and Materials Management
- Understanding of production equipment, tools, and materials used within the department.
- Commitment to maintaining equipment in good working condition and ensuring proper use of departmental resources.
- Familiarity with inventory control and coordination with the stockroom for materials.
Safety and Compliance
- Knowledge of workplace safety practices and company policies.
- Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment and ensuring safety procedures are followed.
- Familiarity with accident reporting and Hazard Communication requirements.
Administrative Responsibilities
- Attention to detail in maintaining departmental records, logbooks, and documentation.
- Ability to review and verify employee timecards and address unusual incidents when necessary.
- Provide fair, accurate, and timely employee performance evaluations and feedback to support accountability and professional development.
Work Expectations
- Willingness to prepare the department for daily production needs, including arriving prior to shift when necessary to check equipment and production readiness.
