Position Overview
The Construction Administrator (CA) is responsible for overseeing construction-phase services to ensure that projects are executed in accordance with contract documents, project specifications, quality standards, and client expectations. This role serves as a key liaison between the design team, contractors, and clients, providing technical expertise, field observations, and coordination throughout the construction process.
Key Responsibilities

- Work with Market Directors and Project Managers to meet KZF goals and objectives
- Maintains technical expertise in your profession and area of work
- Provide CA services on assigned projects including in-office responsibilities, as well as field observation responsibilities
- Provide daily leadership and management in overseeing the progress of construction by design and specifications
- Travel to Project construction sites to perform on-site CA services
- Assist with and prepare construction cost estimates
- Review construction for general conformance with the construction documents
- Support QC/QA processes including providing reviews for technical accuracy, constructability, code conformance, and appropriate level of document detail
- Assist Project Managers with development of project schedules and budgets
- Provide technical and client management support to projects as needed
- Participate in value engineering; attend project team meetings as requested
- Provide technical and project support to staff
- Assist Directors in mentoring and technical development of staff
- Coordinate with Project Managers regarding CA schedule, construction progress and change order costs for assigned projects
- Provide proactive leadership in identifying and solving project and client issues
- Convey problem issues to project managers
- Provide “Lessons Learned” feedback to staff and management
- Assist staff with construction administration processes, which typically include bidding assistance, review shop drawings, participate in construction site observation, prepare Request For Information (RFI) responses, review of pay applications, assist with project close-out activities, and work with the Construction Administration Department and other team members to resolve construction issues in a timely manner
- Capable and experienced in all areas of Construction Administration with an emphasis on performing construction administration services for commercial construction projects in an A/E consulting firm
- Comprehensive understanding of the Commercial Construction and A/E Design industry
- Strong technical Commercial construction knowledge
- Knowledge of A/E industry, including building and site Commercial construction work and materials
- Familiarity with all forms of project delivery methods
- Familiarity with a variety of Commercial construction concepts, practices, and procedures
- Experience with a broad range of commercial project types
- Strong understanding of construction documents and specifications
- Proactive and diligent in problem solving
- Good client skills and contractor relations
- Familiarity with Procore, SureTrak, Primavera, Constructware, and similar software
- Experience with the State of Ohio OFCC Policy Procedures for Construction Administration a plus, (including OAKS CI) and / or Commonwealth of Kentucky DECA Policy Procedure for Construction Administration (including eCOmm) a plus
- Good interpersonal skills that inspire trust, open dialogue and encourages teamwork
- Good business judgement and understanding of the business implications of decisions
- Good written and oral communications skills; good client skills; fluent in speaking, reading and writing in English
- Experience with the State of Ohio DOT (ODOT) Policies and Procedures a plus
- Estimating experience using RSMeans CostWorks a plus
- Estimating experience using MCACES (MII) a plus
- CSI Certified Construction Contract Administrator (CCCA) a plus
- LEED certification a plus
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in Commercial, Industrial and Mixed-Use Developments including Civic, Public Safety, Education, Healthcare, etc.
- Familiarity with Adobe InDesign, Bluebeam, MS Project or other project management tools
- LEED accreditation or other sustainability credentials a plus
