Senior Manager Software Engineering
Office - San Diego, CA

Full time | Full time
R-4130

At Lytx, we help make roadways safer by transforming real‑time video and telematics into safety intelligence that prevents collisions and saves lives.

You will lead the Foundational Core and Insights teams, the mission-critical engine that turns data products into action. This means owning the high-resiliency services that power the platform, from a zero-failure Identity and Permissions framework to the Analytics Experience our customers use to manage risk. Your objective is to build the robust, multi-tenant services that allow our entire product ecosystem to scale seamlessly.

This is a role for someone who is aggressive about AI. Not only for incorporating it into commercial products, but also for leveraging Generative AI into the core of how we deliver products. If you have a passion for high-leverage services and building strong teams, this job is for you.

What You’ll Do

  • Engineer Insights Platform Services: You’ll lead the Insights team, which is responsible for developing and delivering complex data products that provide actionable insights to customers. The team’s goal is to help organizations transition from “What happened?” to “What should I do now?” by surfacing clear, action-driven recommendations.

  • Architect an "Always-On" Foundation: You own the critical core services Identity, Permissions, and Multi-tenancy. You will lead Tech Leads to build a high-resiliency IAM capability that serves as the bedrock for our platform. If this layer fails, road safety will stop, and you will lead the team that ensures it doesn’t

  • Drive AI-First Engineering: You will set rigorous AI-driven engineering standards, leveraging Generative AI to accelerate your team's velocity. Lead your Tech Leads in adopting an AI-centric SDLC to maintain a leadership position in productivity.

  • Mentor senior engineers and Tech Leads. Build leadership, instill ownership, learning, and craftsmanship.

  • Translate strategy into clear roadmaps and predictable delivery. Manage dependencies and drive measurable outcomes.

  • Advance scalability, quality, observability, incident response, and cost/performance optimization.

What You’ll Need

  • 10+ years building scalable distributed systems with 5+ years managing teams and growing senior‑level talent.

  • Experience reviewing and guiding everything from UI flows to API contracts and data models. You understand how the "front-end stuff" connects to the "back-end data" to create a seamless experience.

  • Proven success with cloud‑native microservices, high-scale systems, and the nuances of building granular, multi-tenant permission models.

  • A clear perspective on using Generative AI to eliminate inefficiency in both the product and the engineering process.

  • A track record of owning complex roadmaps and ensuring predictable, high-quality delivery in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Deep knowledge of the AWS Ecosystem, C#/.NET, and Kubernetes.

  • Experience managing "zero-failure" services where high availability is the baseline.

What Success Looks Like

  • Senior engineers grow into trusted tech leads under your coaching, owning the domains.

  • Programs deliver on time and on target, with increased reliability and cost efficiency.

  • Teams adopt AI-enhanced SDLC, cutting the time from concept to commercial insight.

  • Cross-functional partners see your teams as accountable, predictable, and innovative.

Benefits:

  • Medical, dental and vision insurance
  • Health Savings Account
  • Flexible Spending Accounts
  • Telehealth
  • 401(k) and 401(k) match
  • Life and AD&D insurance
  • Short-Term and Long-Term Disability
  • FTO or PTO
  • Employee Well-Being program
  • 11 paid holidays plus 1 inclusive holiday per year
  • Volunteer Time Off
  • Employee Referral program
  • Education Reimbursement Program
  • Employee Recognition and Appreciation program
  • Additional perk and voluntary benefit programs

Salary is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This position is also eligible for an incentive compensation plan. The expected hiring salary for this position is:

$172,250.00 - $218,750.00
