About This Position

About the Role:

The Head Infant Teacher plays a pivotal role in shaping the early developmental experiences of infants within an educational setting. This position is responsible for creating a nurturing, safe, and stimulating environment that supports the physical, emotional, social, and cognitive growth of infants from birth to 12 months. The Head Infant Teacher leads the infant classroom team by designing and implementing age-appropriate curricula that align with developmental milestones and educational standards. This role requires close collaboration with families to ensure individualized care plans and consistent communication about each child's progress and needs. Ultimately, the Head Infant Teacher fosters a foundation for lifelong learning and well-being by promoting positive interactions and responsive caregiving practices.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field OR
  • At least 5 years of experience working directly with infants in an educational or childcare setting.
  • Knowledge of infant developmental milestones and best practices in infant care and education.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Familiarity with state and federal regulations governing infant care and early childhood education.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a leadership or supervisory role within an infant classroom.
  • Training in trauma-informed care or special needs early intervention.
  • Bilingual abilities to support diverse family communities.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement developmentally appropriate lesson plans and activities tailored to infants' needs and interests.
  • Supervise and mentor assistant teachers and support staff within the infant classroom to maintain high-quality care and education.
  • Monitor and document each infant’s developmental progress, adjusting care and learning strategies accordingly.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming classroom environment that complies with all health and safety regulations.
  • Engage with families regularly to share observations, provide guidance, and support their involvement in their child’s early learning.
  • Collaborate with the broader educational team to align infant care practices with center-wide policies and goals.
  • Ensure compliance with licensing requirements and participate in ongoing professional development.
