Description:

University Physicians’ Association (UPA) is excited to welcome a Certified Medical Assistant or Medical Assistant to join the Rocky Hill Family Physicians team in West Knoxville. This is an excellent opportunity for a compassionate, detail-oriented healthcare professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys being a vital part of the patient care experience. In this role, you will work closely with providers and clinical staff to deliver timely, high-quality care, ensuring patients feel supported, informed, and prioritized throughout their healthcare journey.

What You’ll Do
  • Serve as a key clinical contact by triaging patient phone calls and assessing levels of care
  • Accurately document symptoms, medical history, and current health concerns in the EMR
  • Communicate test results and provide clear patient instructions
  • Manage prescription refills in accordance with compliance and protocol
  • Assist with scheduling, prior authorizations, and obtaining pre-certifications for imaging (MRI, CT)
  • Coordinate care while maintaining professional, compassionate relationships with patients, families, and providers
  • Support daily clinic operations with additional clinical and administrative tasks as needed.
Schedule
  • Full-time
  • Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
  • No evenings or weekends

Requirements:

What We’re Looking For

  • Minimum 3 years of prior medical experience
  • Certified Medical Assistant Credential Preferred
  • Experience with electronic medical records
  • Strong communication, organization, and time-management skills
  • Ability to stay focused, accurate, and calm in a busy clinical setting
  • A patient-first mindset and collaborative team approach
