About This Position
(2 positions) part-time
1. Early morning - Wednesday 6:00 - 7:00 am class (60-minute class)
2. Evening - Thursday 8:30 - 9:15 pm class (45-minute class)
Description:
Under the direction of the Water Fitness Supervisor, create and lead safe, effective, motivating exercise routines for water aerobics class participants that include challenging the cardio-respiratory system along with strengthening, toning and stretching exercises with a variety of options to accommodate a wide range of fitness levels from the de-conditioned beginner to the highly conditioned athlete. Classes are taught from the deck; the instructor does NOT teach in the water.
Requirements:Minimum Qualifications:
• 18 years of age
• Ability to work in a humid, hot environment
• Ability to push and pull music cart, fans, equipment, etc., 50 feet or more
• Dependable
• Willingness to hone teaching skills on own time by watching educational DVDs (provided), attending other instructors’ classes, and reading industry magazines
• Open-minded, teachable, and willing to accept constructive feedback and incorporate changes as needed
• Possess excellent customer service and communication skills
• Have an enthusiastic personality and the ability to motivate others
Desired Qualifications:
Minimum qualifications (listed above) PLUS
• Experience as a water fitness class participant and/or as a water aerobics instructor OR experience as swim instructor or lifeguard
• Level II Water Fitness instructor — Certified through the Aquatic Exercise Association (AEA)
Pay: $14.50 - $22.50 her hour DOE (average 1.5 hours paid time to teach an hour class)
Paid training provided and a complimentary household membership while employed.
Will train the right person, even without water aerobics or aquatics experience.
