Job Description
Innophos is seeking a Lead Quality Assurance Specialist to join our team at our Nashville, TN manufacturing location. The Lead Quality Assurance Specialist will develop, manage and continually improve the Quality Assurance Process, focusing on system and process continual improvement necessary for the manufacturing site(s) to meet or exceed customer requirements from a quality or regulatory standpoint.
The ideal candidate is an experienced quality professional with a bachelor's degree in an engineering or scientific field and at least seven years in quality assurance or continuous improvement, preferably in a food manufacturing environment. They bring hands-on expertise in food safety regulations, auditing (ISO 9001 or GFSI), and PCQI/Food Defense certifications, paired with strong communication skills and the ability to lead training, manage compliance programs, and drive cross-functional improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities- Train new hires in Quality and Food Safety topics within the plant
- Conduct annual training in cGMP and Food Safety related topics for all site(s) employees
- Set up and maintain annual Internal Audits
- Lead monthly Food Safety, Glass Inspections, and Food Safety Meetings
- Perform outside warehouse inspections
- Support external audits by providing necessary requested information
- Conduct empty bag verifications
- Responsible for in-coming pallet inspections
- Oversee Pest Control service management
- Support the management of Food Safety Plans, including participation in annual review meetings with the QA Manager
- Manage Environmental Monitoring Program and Potable Water Monitoring
- Assist in Maintain Vulnerability Assessments for Raw Materials
- Work with QA Manager to prepare and maintain Food Defense plans and Food Defense audits
- Provide statistics for Complaint investigations, RFT, CpK’s and MOC’s
- Help with complaint investigations, CAPA’s and improvement activities
- Follows all environmental, health and safety protocols
- Provides support for all safety and environmental initiatives
- Proactively attempts to prevent all accidents and eliminate all unsafe conditions
- Demonstrates management’s commitment to safety
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or scientific discipline required; advanced degree preferred
- 7 or more years of experience in Quality related functions or Continuous Improvement disciplines
- Training in Auditing Skills (such as Lead Auditor training in ISO 9001 and/or GFSI Auditor training)
- Preventative Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI) Training required
- Food Defense Training required
- Working knowledge of EtQ, JDE, and SPC Package preferred
- Working knowledge of all Microsoft Office products required
- High level knowledge of Excel Spreadsheets
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Work is generally performed in an office environment, with standard equipment available
- Frequent sitting
- Occasional Plant field visits, sitting, bending
- Rarely lifting (50 lbs max), squatting, climbing, temperature changes
- Never operates mobile and/or heavy equipment
