Responsibilities

Shawmut’s Mission Critical group is growing fast, and we’re looking for a Safety Manager who’s ready to shape the safety culture of some of the most complex, highperformance projects in the industry. This is a role for someone who thrives in dynamic environments, loves being out in the field, and wants to make a measurable impact on people, processes, and project outcomes.

You’ll be the driving force behind safe, efficient, and compliant project execution across missioncritical job sites. Your work will directly impact people, processes, and project outcomes.

  • Partner with project teams during preconstruction to identify risks early and build smart, proactive safety plans.

  • Conduct regular site walkthroughs to spot hazards, recommend corrective actions, and ensure safe work practices.

  • Lead engaging safety orientations, toolbox talks, and ongoing training for employees and subcontractors.

  • Review and approve required permits, documentation, and safety checklists throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Investigate incidents and nearmisses, determine root causes, and communicate lessons learned across teams.

  • Maintain accurate safety records and ensure compliance with OSHA, company standards, and regulatory requirements.

  • Collaborate with Superintendents and Project Managers to reinforce expectations and drive accountability.

  • Support continuous improvement by contributing to the development and refinement of Shawmut’s safety programs.

  • Monitor weather and site conditions daily to anticipate and mitigate environmental risks.

  • Serve as a visible, approachable safety leader who builds trust and influences without authority.

Qualifications
  • At least 3 years of construction safety experience (data center experience is a plus).

  • Strong working knowledge of OSHA Construction Standards.

  • The ability to read drawings, anticipate risks, and communicate clearly and confidently.

  • A collaborative, relationshipdriven approach — you know how to influence without authority.

  • Certifications such as First Aid/CPR, OSHA 500, or BCSP credentials

  • Comfort with technology (MS Office, Procore) and a willingness to learn new systems.
