About the role

Our Assistant Director of Campus Engagement plays a vital role in shaping a vibrant, engaging, and development‑focused student experience at Bethel University. This position provides leadership and oversight for Bethel Student Government (BSG), campus engagement initiatives, and student leadership development, while partnering closely with Student Life to support students’ personal, academic, and leadership growth.

Through advising, mentoring, and program oversight, this role empowers student leaders to plan meaningful experiences, steward resources responsibly, and lead with integrity. The Assistant Director also supports PSEO (dual-enrollment) student engagement and recruitment efforts, helping students feel connected to Bethel and supported as they discern their next steps. This is a highly relational role that requires strong organizational skills, sound judgment, and a commitment to Bethel’s Christ‑centered mission.

The starting salary for this role is $55,100 - $57,000 based on experience. This role does require the ability to work evenings and weekend hours to support and attend student events.

What you'll do

1. Bethel Student Government Oversight – 50%

Provide leadership and oversight for all Bethel Student Government programs, initiatives, and events, including planning, training, budgeting, and implementation.Directly supervise the Student Body President, Vice President, Executive Financial Officer, Executive of Clubs and Organizations, Executive of Student Activities, and Student Council.Share supervision of the Executive of Student Ministries, Executive of Kingdom Culture, and Executive of Communications and Marketing.Partner with student executives to oversee all Student Director roles and student members.Meet regularly with the Student Body President, Vice President, and Executive Team to provide guidance, coaching, and accountability.Attend Student Council meetings, Executive Team meetings, and Student Activities Director meetings.Maintain accurate documentation, records, and budgets, including stewardship of student activities fees in collaboration with the director and business office.Approve student expenses and uphold confidentiality and compliance standards.Develop annual goals, prepare reports, and maintain consistent communication with student leaders.Occasionally attend Student Ministries and Kingdom Culture events as advising needs require.

2. Campus Engagement – 20%

Attend evening and weekend events to support and guide student teams, primarily within Student Activities.Collaborate with the Campus Engagement and Residence Life teams on Welcome Week programming and campus-wide events.Develop and implement engagement opportunities for on-campus and commuter PSEO students.Provide individualized one-to-one connection and support opportunities through relationship development and communication with PSEO juniors and seniors to foster connection and belonging.Supervise Commuter Life Assistants.

3. Student Development & Support – 15%

Partner with Student Life staff to support student leadership development and mentoring.Build collaborative relationships with campus resources to engage and support PSEO students and their families.Participate in Student Life’s Student Care process, providing support and referrals as appropriate.

4. PSEO Recruitment & Re-enrollment – 15%

Recruit students currently enrolled in Bethel’s Online PSEO program and Partnerships for continued enrollment at Bethel after high school graduation.Maintain administrative documentation related to prospective and current PSEO students.Collaborate closely with the Office of Admissions on strategic planning and execution for PSEO recruitment and re-recruitment efforts.

Qualifications

Education, Licensure & Experience

Required Education: Bachelor’s degree in a related field.

Required Experience: 2+ years of related experience.

Preferred Experience: 4+ years of related experience

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Must have flexibility in schedule to work evenings and weekend hours during school year to attend eventsKnowledge of, and ability to apply, student development theory and Christian higher educationDemonstrated leadership and ability to supervise and develop student staffStrong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skillsAbility to work effectively with diverse student populationsProfessional judgment and discretion in confidential situationsBudget management experienceProficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace; willingness to learn new systemsStudent‑centered approach, including understanding the needs of prospective students

Travel: This position requires some local and regional travel.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. The job requires traversing the Bethel Campus on a regular basis. Ability to bend, reach, and lift, push, pull up to 20 lbs.

Expected Hours of Work:

Typical days and hours vary throughout the week (Sunday – Saturday) during the school year. The expectation is to work specific schedules and hours as identified and communicated by management and to meet the needs of the students. Evening and weekend work may be required most weeks. This is a 40-hour-per-week, 12-month-per-year position.
