Job Description
The Aircraft Maintenance and Management Lead is responsible for driving revenue growth across Sherpa Air’s Part 145 Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul (MRO) operation, with secondary responsibility for sourcing aircraft management opportunities under our Part 135 Air Carrier.
This role is a hybrid technical sales and strategic growth position—owning the full lifecycle from opportunity creation through contract execution and delivery alignment. The Lead serves as the primary commercial interface between customers and internal teams, ensuring all proposals are technically accurate, operationally executable, and commercially competitive.
This position reports directly to the President of Sherpa Air, reflecting the strategic importance of business development across both maintenance and flight operations.
In this capacity, the Lead operates with enterprise-level visibility across Maintenance, Flight Operations, and Finance to align commercial strategy with company-wide objectives and drive coordinated growth initiatives.
Responsibilities:
Technical Sales & Contract Development (Part 145)
- Develop and execute a targeted sales strategy aligned with repair station capabilities, ratings, and capacity.
- Prepare compliant work scopes, estimates, proposals, and contracts using AMM, MPD, CMM, AD, and SB data.
- Ensure all commercial commitments align with available labor, tooling, certifications, and schedule.
- Support sales of:
- Heavy inspections and scheduled maintenance events
- Avionics upgrades (Garmin platforms, integrated flight decks)
- Structural modifications and repairs
- STC-based modifications and cabin systems
- Aircraft On Ground – away from station GGE
Customer Acquisition & Revenue Growth
- Actively generate new business across:
- Part 91 owner-operators
- Part 135 fleet operators
- Corporate flight departments
- Government and special-mission operators
- Own the full sales lifecycle from prospecting through contract execution.
- Serve as the primary customer liaison from RFQ through delivery.
- Drive repeat business through disciplined communication and consistent execution.
Aircraft Management Pipeline Development (Part 135)
- Identify and cultivate aircraft management opportunities originating from MRO relationships.
- Position Sherpa Air as a long-term partner for aircraft operations, not just maintenance.
- Coordinate with flight operations leadership to transition qualified prospects into managed aircraft programs.
- Leverage maintenance engagements as entry points for broader service offerings.
Market Expansion & Product Positioning
- Expand market share in targeted airframes, including:
- Bombardier Challenger series
- Cessna Citation platforms
- Drive avionics sales growth, particularly Garmin upgrade programs.
- Identify and penetrate emerging verticals:
- ISR / special mission
- Law enforcement / public safety
- Utility and fleet operators
- Recommend capability expansions based on market demand and customer feedback.
Internal Coordination & Execution Alignment
- Partner with Maintenance, Quality, and Planning teams to align sales commitments with operational execution.
- Participate in induction meetings, technical reviews, and milestone updates.
- Ensure customer expectations align with regulatory and documentation requirements.
Pipeline Management, Forecasting & Compliance
- Maintain an accurate sales pipeline tied to:
- Labor availability
- Hangar capacity
- Supply chain timelines
- Document all customer activity in CRM and MRO systems.
- Ensure all commercial activity aligns with Federal Aviation Administration requirements and repair station limitations.
- Provide regular forecasting, reporting, and market intelligence to leadership.
- 3–7 years of experience in aviation maintenance sales, estimating, planning, or project management
- Proven success selling:
- Heavy maintenance inspections
- Avionics upgrades and retrofit programs
- Aircraft modifications and scheduled maintenance events
- Prior experience in an MRO environment strongly preferred
- Familiarity with business aviation platforms (e.g., Citation, Challenger, Embraer, Pilatus, Gulfstream)
- Meet the qualification of Part 119 for the Part 135 Director of Maintenance Position
Technical & Professional Skills
- Strong understanding of aircraft systems, maintenance programs, and regulatory requirements
- Ability to interpret technical data (AMM, MPD, CMM, ADs, SBs) and translate into customer proposals
- Proficiency with CRM systems, quoting tools, and MRO/ERP platforms
- Strong analytical and pricing/estimating capabilities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills across technical and executive audiences
- A&P License preferred but not required
Additional Requirements
- Ability to travel frequently for customer visits, industry events, and trade shows
- Must pass background checks and pre-employment screening

Position Profile
This is a revenue-generating role expected to build pipeline, close business, and convert maintenance relationships into long-term aviation partnerships—including aircraft management opportunities.
