Job Description
Position Description:
- Dispatch and manage company drivers and owner-operators for LTL pickups and deliveries
- Coordinate daily routes, multi-stop loads, and linehaul schedules
- Communicate load details, routing, dock times, and special handling instructions to drivers
- Monitor driver status, service issues, capacity constraints, and delivery performance
- Manage appointment scheduling with customers and terminals
- Track freight movement, delivery status, shortages, and exceptions
- Maintain accurate load, driver, and delivery information in the TMS
- Proactively communicate with customers regarding delays, changes, or service issues
- Ensure compliance with DOT regulations, company safety policies, and hours-of-service requirements
- Resolve operational challenges such as missed pickups, late deliveries, freight exceptions, or equipment issues
- Coordinate with warehouse and dock teams to ensure timely freight movement
- Support billing and claims processes by providing accurate delivery records and documentation
Qualifications & Experience
Required:
- 5+ years of experience in LTL or freight dispatching
- Experience dispatching multi-stop routes and time-sensitive freight
- Strong knowledge of driver hours-of-service and DOT compliance
- Proficiency with Transportation Management Systems (TMS)
- Excellent and professional communication, multitasking, and problem-solving skills
Preferred:
- Familiarity with freight class, NMFC codes, and accessorial charges
- Experience with ELD systems
- Knowledge of regional routes and traffic patterns
