About the Role:
The Liquid Propane/Fuel Delivery Driver plays a critical role in ensuring the safe and timely delivery of liquid propane and other fuels to agricultural, facility and other operations across northwest Indiana/ Eastern Ohio. This position requires meticulous attention to safety protocols and regulatory compliance to handle and transport hazardous materials effectively. The driver will be responsible for maintaining the integrity of fuel delivery systems, ensuring that customers receive their fuel in optimal condition to support their operational needs. This role demands strong communication skills to coordinate with dispatch, customers, and regulatory bodies, ensuring smooth delivery operations. Ultimately, the driver contributes to the continuity and efficiency of essential agricultural and related industries by providing reliable fuel delivery services.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), class A or B with Hazmat Endorsement.
- Proven experience in fuel/propane delivery or handling propane gas systems.
- Comprehensive knowledge of CDL regulations and safety standards related to fuel transportation.
- Ability to pass DOT physical examinations and drug screenings.
- Strong understanding of safety protocols for handling and transporting flammable liquids.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience working within the agriculture or energy sector.
- Certification in hazardous materials handling or safety training related to propane and fuel delivery.
- Excellent customer service skills with a track record of professionalism in client interactions.
- Mechanical aptitude for minor vehicle and equipment maintenance.
Responsibilities:
- Operate commercial vehicles to deliver liquid propane and fuel safely to various agricultural and related industry sites.
- Inspect and maintain delivery vehicles and propane gas systems to ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
- Adhere strictly to CDL regulations and hazardous materials transportation guidelines during all delivery operations.
- Load and unload fuel products carefully, verifying quantities and documenting deliveries accurately.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch and customers to coordinate delivery schedules and address any issues promptly.
Skills:
The required skills in fuel delivery, propane gas systems, and CDL regulations are essential for ensuring that all deliveries are conducted safely and in compliance with federal and state laws. Daily, the driver applies knowledge of propane systems to inspect and operate delivery equipment, preventing leaks or hazards. Understanding CDL regulations guides the driver in maintaining proper documentation, adhering to hours-of-service rules, and managing vehicle inspections. Preferred skills such as route planning and customer service enhance operational efficiency and foster positive client relationships. Together, these skills enable the driver to perform their duties reliably, supporting critical agricultural and related industry operations.
Hours will vary based on the route; however, the office is open Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
