Technical Project Manager – Process Engineering & Product Transfer
Location: Henrico, VA
Job Type: Full-Time, Direct Hire
Shift: 1st Shift
Compensation: Starting at $90,000 annually (based on experience)

Position Overview

We are seeking a Technical Project Manager with a strong background in process engineering and product transfer within the pharmaceutical or personal care manufacturing industry. This role is responsible for leading and supporting the transfer of batch manufacturing and packaging processes from development through full-scale production.

The position serves as a key technical liaison between internal cross-functional teams, including R&D, Operations, and Quality, ensuring seamless progression from pilot stages to validated commercial manufacturing under current GMP standards.

This role requires strong analytical thinking, technical documentation skills, and the ability to effectively communicate across teams in a fast-paced, customer-facing environment.

Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities may include involvement across multiple phases of product and process development:

  • Support laboratory bench-scale batching activities
  • Oversee pilot-scale GMP production, including batch analysis and process optimization
  • Participate in technology transfer initiatives across manufacturing sites
  • Lead or support process validation activities, including protocol development and report writing
  • Provide technical guidance to manufacturing and packaging teams during validation and production
  • Conduct root cause investigations and contribute to CAPA development
  • Troubleshoot process issues ranging from simple to moderately complex
  • Analyze process and equipment performance data to identify improvement opportunities
  • Develop solutions to prevent recurring manufacturing issues
  • Perform cost-benefit analyses for process improvements
  • Support post-validation monitoring and ensure adherence to regulatory commitments
  • Ensure all projects meet business, quality, and compliance standards
  • Operate and support the use of production and laboratory equipment (e.g., mixers, pH meters, tachometers)
  • Collaborate with technical teams to transition products from development to commercialization
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines
Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or a related technical field
  • Equivalent experience in a manufacturing or research environment may be considered

Experience:

  • 3–5 years of experience managing projects from development through commercialization
  • Experience in pharmaceutical, cosmetic, or personal care manufacturing preferred

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong data analysis and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Solid understanding of manufacturing processes and GMP requirements
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Technical writing experience (protocols, reports, documentation)
  • Ability to work collaboratively across cross-functional teams
