Description:

The Regional Inside Sales Representative is an entry-level to early-career sales position designed for individuals seeking to begin and grow a professional sales career within a growing consumer products company. This role focuses on supporting and growing smaller regional and independent accounts while assisting in the day-to-day coordination and effectiveness of independent and regional sales representatives who call on those accounts.

This role exists to bridge field sales activity with internal execution by ensuring account information, sales activity, and communication are organized, supported, and consistently followed through. The position provides hands-on exposure to core sales fundamentals, account management, forecasting, reporting, and sales team coordination, with mentorship from an experienced sales leadership team and clear opportunities for long-term growth within the organization. This role does not include responsibility for digital or e-commerce sales channels.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. The following is an overview of the main duties for this position and is not exhaustive of all tasks that may be performed in this role.

Account Management & Sales Support

  • Support and help grow a portfolio of smaller regional, independent, and non-key mass market accounts through regular communication, follow-up, and relationship building.
  • Serve as a primary internal point of contact for assigned accounts, ensuring timely responses, issue resolution, and accurate information flow.
  • Assist sales representatives by coordinating account information, pricing details, program communication, and promotional activity.
  • Support the preparation of account presentations, line reviews, call summaries, and follow-up materials.
  • Help identify opportunities to improve distribution, assortment effectiveness, and overall product mix within assigned accounts.

Sales Representative Coordination & Development

  • Assist in the coordination and day-to-day support of independent and regional sales representatives calling on assigned accounts.
  • Participate in regular communication and check-ins with sales representatives to track activity, execution, and follow-through.
  • Help gather, organize, and communicate field feedback related to customers, competitors, pricing, and product performance.
  • Support onboarding, training coordination, and ongoing development activities under the direction of sales leadership.
  • Participate in mentoring opportunities focused on learning sales fundamentals, territory support, and professional sales practices.

Reporting, Forecasting & Analysis

  • Prepare routine sales reports related to account performance, sales activity, and territory trends.
  • Assist in tracking territory performance against goals and providing visibility into opportunities and risks.
  • Support forecasting and promotional planning efforts by collecting input from sales representatives and assigned accounts.
  • Work cross-functionally with forecasting, operations, and internal teams to support accurate demand planning.

Technology & AI-Enabled Tools

  • Utilize company sales systems and reporting tools to maintain accurate account records, call notes, and activity documentation.
  • Leverage tools (such as company sales insights, analytics, forecasting aids, and AI productivity tools) for the following: 1) Identify trends and opportunities within assigned accounts; 2) Improve efficiency in reporting, follow-up, and territory organization; 3) Summarize sales activity, field feedback, and customer communications
  • Use AI and automation tools to enhance efficiency, insight, and organization, supporting but not replacing, professional judgment and relationship management.
  • Participate in ongoing learning related to new sales technologies, analytics tools, and AI-supported workflows.

Communication and Cross-functional Alignment

  • Act as a liaison between the sales organization and internal teams, including customer service, forecasting, marketing, and operations.
  • Communicate account activity and key developments through reports, system updates, and internal meetings.
  • Represent the company professionally in interactions with customers, sales representatives, and internal stakeholders.

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or a related field required, advanced degree preferred.
  • Prior experience in sales support, customer service, account coordination, or business operations is a plus but not required.
  • Some financial and operational knowledge, including sales forecasting and pricing strategy.
  • Demonstrated experience partnering cross-functionally with inventory, operations, supply chain, purchasing, and finance teams.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to stay organized, manage multiple priorities, and follow through on commitments.
  • Comfort working with numbers, sales data, and performance reports.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Willingness and ability to learn company sales systems, reporting tools, and AI-assisted productivity tools.
  • Professional demeanor with the ability to work effectively with a variety of personalities and teams.
  • Analytical curiosity and interest in learning how data and insights support sales decision-making.
  • This position requires about 5% travel, including local and national, as needed.
