About This Position
Overview
Circle Seafoods purchases and freezes fresh caught salmon from a fishing fleet on site. A fishing fleet coordinator is responsible for overseeing the operations of a group of fishing vessels, ensuring efficient and safe fishing practices while managing logistics, compliance with regulations, vessel maintenance, crew scheduling, and coordinating catch reporting across the fleet, effectively acting as the central point of contact for all aspects of the fishing operation on the water.
Fleet Management:
- Monitoring the location and status of all fishing vessels in the fleet through communication systems.
- Tracking catch data from each vessel and ensuring accurate reporting to relevant authorities.
- Training the fleet in Circles quality program and ensuring compliance to the program throughout the season.
Compliance and Regulations:
- Ensuring adherence to all fishing regulations, including quotas, fishing seasons, and protected species restrictions.
- Monitoring and managing permits and licenses required for fishing operations.
- Staying updated on any regulatory changes and communicating them to the fleet.
Off Season: Remote Location
Off season the Fleet Coordinator will assist with maintaining communications with the fleet and fleet recruitment. Finally, the Fleet Coordinator will collaborate with other departments to align production goals with company objectives, ensuring a cohesive approach to achieving Circle Seafoods' success.

Physical activities include lifting ~ 50 lbs, bending, standing, and moving throughout the day. At times throughout the season we will be operating and working 7 days a week, workdays vary Sunday through Saturday. Workdays and shift times will vary with seafood deliveries and other factors.

Required Education & Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- College education is desirable but not required.
- Candidates should possess ambition and a keen interest in the seafood industry.
- Experience working within a 24-hour, multi-shift, fast paced production operation.
- Minimum 2-4 years of Alaska seafood industry experience.
- Must have good decision-making ability. Strong leadership and motivational skills needed.
- Familiarity with marine communication systems, navigation technology, and fleet management software.
Other Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Excellent communication skills, verbal and written.
- Ability to prioritize and organize tasks.
- Thorough knowledge of the seafood industry, processing rules and regulations.
- Valid Drivers license
- Ability to travel to Alaska and other work locations
- Basic computer skills
