About This Position
A successful Cloud SysOps Engineer provides input and support for, and performs full systems life cycle management activities (e.g., analyses, technical requirements, design, coding, testing, implementation of systems and applications software, etc.). Comfortable with component and data architecture design, technology planning, and testing for Applications Development (AD) initiatives to meet business requirements. Comfortable working with teams and emerging technologies to ensure effective communication and achievement of objectives. This position provides knowledge and support for applications development, integration, and maintenance.
Support the development and operations of cloud-based solutions in a fast-paced environment.
Utilizing a wide array of Fed Ramp Government cloud services and a modern codebase, these solutions are built on leading edge technologies.
Occasional scheduled tasks will occur outside of normal working hours. Emergency availability may be required in rare circumstances.
Position Requirements
Basic Qualifications
Bachelors degree with 5+ years of relevant experience with Cloud technologies including AWS and hybrid Cloud architectures or 9+ years relevant experience
Technical understanding of Cloud architectures
Ability to leverage the newest cloud GovCloud features to continuously monitor and secure solutions, to continuously build and deploy for each environment.
Excellent understanding of SaaS, PaaS, IaaS for cloud computing models
Experience with configuration, administration, and troubleshooting of Linux and Windows servers hosted in AWS
Experience managing Java web application servers such as JBoss and Tomcat
Experience using Ansible
Ability to create, test, troubleshoot and maintain custom scripts (e.g. Bash, Python, Groovy, etc.) for administration and configuration of Cloud resources
Experience building monitoring dashboards, and creating alerts from logs
Working knowledge of continuous integration and delivery tools (e.g. Git, Jenkins, Artifactory) and processes
Knowledge and demonstrated experience working with Agile methodology and tools (e.g. Jira/Confluence)
Experience presenting, briefing, or communicating analytical material to key project stakeholders
Experience with Microsoft Office
Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills
Able to work with small teams, able to work independently, and self-motivated
Effective oral and written communication skills
Desired skills
3+ years experience with USAF CCE/Cloud One
Experience with AWS GovCloud
AWS Solutions Architect Certified
CompTIA Security+ Certified
Experience writing Ansible playbooks and roles from requirement to implementation
Experience with low-code tools such as Appian
Understanding of networking in AWS, including Routing Tables, Internet Gateways, Network ACLs, VPN, VPC Peering, etc.
Experience with one or more of the following container technologies: Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift, AWS ECS/EKS/ECR
Knowledge of software quality process/assurance including testing automation, unit/integration testing, design/code review, code profiling and software continuous integration and continuous deployment pipelines
Experience designing, building, and deploying highly scalable, resilient, performant Cloud micro-services
Adherence to approved design plans and coding standards
Experience utilizing AWS native services or Splunk to monitor and alert on applications and services running in the cloud
Experience working in an integrated team to continually improve DevOps processes
