What You’ll Do

As a Radiologic Tech, you will operate basic radiologic equipment determining the quality and quantity of ionizing radiation to make quality radiographs on injured and/or sick patients as directed by physicians following accepted policies and procedures under the direction of radiologists

Radiology Tech Job Responsibilities:

  • Performs radiology procedures and examinations per physician orders and departmental policies
  • Assists radiologists during fluoroscopic procedures and operates C-arm fluoroscopy for intra-operative cases
  • Prepares contrast media solutions (barium and non-ionic contrast) for fluoroscopic studies
  • Applies proper immobilization devices and uses skilled positioning techniques, especially for trauma, surgical, or immobile patients
  • Evaluates image quality for diagnostic accuracy and selects appropriate exposure factors to optimize image quality while minimizing radiation exposure
  • Properly applies primary and secondary image markers
  • Troubleshoots equipment issues and coordinates repairs as needed
  • Documents patient history to support radiologist interpretation
  • Verifies and manages exam charges (credits, cancels, revisions, additions)
  • Ensures accurate identification, labeling, and transmission of images to PACS and flags studies for radiologist dictation
  • Communicates PACS corrections and system issues to appropriate personnel
  • Uses email for professional communication and coordination
  • Provides instruction and guidance to clinical students
  • Completes additional duties and projects as assigned by leadership

What You Bring

As a Radiology Tech, it requires knowledge of radiation-emitting units and demonstrates the ability to properly position patients for all examinations. You must possess analytical skills necessary to assess radiograph quality and make appropriate judgments. You must also demonstrate strong communication skills to understand and follow both written and verbal instructions effectively.

Required Qualifications

  • The knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated below are normally acquired through graduation from an approved school of radiology technology with subsequent registration by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and certification by the State Board of Health.
