This role sits at the core of a fast-paced logistics environment where building strong carrier relationships directly drives service performance and profitability. You will be responsible for sourcing capacity, negotiating rates, and ensuring freight moves efficiently across North America. The position blends sales, operations, and relationship management, requiring both commercial instinct and operational precision. You will work closely with carriers, owner-operators, and internal teams to match freight with available capacity in real time. Success in this role means consistently delivering reliable transportation solutions while strengthening long-term carrier partnerships. It is a highly dynamic, results-driven position where communication, speed, and negotiation skills are essential.
In this role, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining a strong carrier network while ensuring freight coverage and service excellence across all shipments:
- Build and manage a portfolio of carrier relationships, developing long-term strategic partnerships across multiple geographies
- Source and secure carrier capacity to support customer freight needs and ensure timely coverage of loads
- Negotiate competitive transportation rates and prepare accurate quotes aligned with market conditions
- Manage load boards and match available freight with appropriate carrier capacity efficiently
- Process orders, updates, and requests via phone, email, and digital systems with accuracy and professionalism
- Conduct regular carrier communication to assess availability, resolve issues, and maintain service reliability
- Deliver consistent service quality to both carriers and internal stakeholders while identifying growth opportunities within existing accounts
This position requires strong communication skills, commercial awareness, and the ability to perform in a high-volume, fast-moving logistics environment:
- College or university degree preferred, or equivalent relevant experience
- 3–4 years of experience in brokerage, carrier sales, or logistics coordination strongly preferred
- Strong negotiation, persuasion, and relationship-building skills
- Solid understanding of North American geography and freight lanes
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and perform under tight deadlines in a dynamic environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to quickly adapt to new logistics and CRM systems
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving mindset with attention to detail
