CDL TRASH TRUCK DRIVERS - CDL TRASH TRUCK DRIVERSPOSITION SUMMARYDriver operates a truck that transports solid waste to and from specified destinations. Size of truck is more than 5 tons.ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESONSIBLITIESOperates a residential/commercial/solid waste or recycling collection trash truck and ancillary equipment on assigned route to residential cans/commercial container customers, while providing excellent customer serviceDeliver solid waste/recyclables to designated disposal/recycling facilityLoad solid waste and or recyclables to service Properly operates trash truck of any kindPractice proper backing procedures after servicing the container using cameras making sure back up alarms are working properlyPrepares, receives, and provides appropriate documentation for the delivery and pickup of containers to ensure timely serviceLoads, secures and unloads truck and follows all safety procedures at landfills and transfer stationsMaintains radio or telephone communications with dispatcher and supervisor to receive instructions or notice of changes concerning deliveries or pickupsMaintains route sheets, vehicle inspection records, and follows all federal and state DOT regulationsDelivers solid waste/recyclable to designated disposal/recycling facilityLoads solid waste, yard waste, and/or recyclables into the rear or side of waste collection vehicleOperates equipment to compact waste into the vehicleOperates truck and equipment using prescribed techniques to eliminate Driver induced mechanical failuresCompletes pre-trip - post trip inspections and reports dailyCommunicates vehicle mechanical problems immediatelyMaintains route quality safety and service standardsMaintains clean vehicle interior and exteriorIdentify and tag prohibited waste items and removeResponsible for completing daily pre & post trip inspectionsComplies with all mandatory safety meetings & briefings, operational standards & policies, and maintains a valid Texas CDL and DOT medical cardReports all safety and service incidents to the Supervisor immediatelyMINIMUM QUALIFCATIONSAt least 3 years of satisfactory driving experience of Class A or B vehicles preferredExcellent communication skills and ability to deal professionally with customers, dispatchers, mechanics and other driversAbility to perform simple mathematical calculationsExcellent driving skillsComputer Skills: Basic use of Tablets and ApplicationsPass drug screen and criminal background checkSuccessfully complete and pass a written and road testMeet all Federal & State DOT requirementsPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSMust be able to pass a DOT physicalMust be able to climb into and out of truck several times per day using 3 points of contactMust be able to sit for long periods as well as walk for short periodsMust be able to bend, stoop, crawl and squat in order to perform a full inspection of the underside of the truck and inspect tires for adequate inflation and potential damageMust be able to work outside for short periods of time in all types of weatherMust be able to see and hear proficiently to operate a commercial motor vehicle in a safe mannerMust be able to work in a moderately noisy environmentEDUCATIONHigh School Diploma or GED equivalentLICENSE AND CERTIFICATIONSPossess a valid Class A or B Commercial Driver's LicenseCompany supplies: Safety boots, uniforms and all PPE
