About This Position

MEDICAL ASSISTANT

  • Expected pay for this position is $18.58-$26.02. Actual pay will be determined by experience, skills and internal equity.

  • Job Summary
    • The Medical Assistant will provide a full range of medical assistant services within the framework of established professional standards. All medical assistant services will be provided by the medical assistant working collaboratively with support staff and under the medical direction of the physician. Accompany provider into exam room and document history and physical, enter orders for labs, imaging, medications and referrals. Document procedures, enter test results, list diagnosis, assist patient to make follow up appointment. Follow up on test results. Clerical tasks such as faxing and phone calls. Gather patient information from specialty offices. Use of electronic health record.
  • Job Specifications
    • EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Must have earned a medical assistant certificate from an accredited school. Required to have a current CPR certification or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire date. Experience in a medical office setting is preferred.


    • JOB KNOWLEDGE: Must have knowledge of the following: current clinical practices commonly implemented by the family practice nurse; medical terminology; Service Organization and office policies and procedures; all technical equipment used; use of personal protective equipment in compliance with DCD and OSHA guidelines; rules and regulations concerning child abuse reporting and guardianship. The patient population must be considered when assessing job knowledge required from the employee.

      • Must have the ability to express thoughts in clear and concise terms, both verbal and written.
      • Must have the ability to adapt and prioritize during high volume periods.
      • Must have the ability and dexterity to operate all equipment in a safe and effective manner.
      • Must be interested in self-motivation and self-improvement.
      • Must be interested in all aspects of providing primary care and / or surgical services.
      • Must be interested in clinical and financial aspects of performance in a medical office setting.
      • Must be able to use tact, courtesy, and diplomacy when dealing with employees, supervisors, doctors, patients, insurance companies, and the general public.
      • Must have the ability to work with a variety of patients of all populations (e.g. developmentally appropriate care, cultural diversity, patients with pain, victims of abuse or neglect, and diagnosis or procedure specific such as patient with congestive heart failure or cesarean delivery).
