Position Summary:
The University of New Mexico, Valencia Campus is acceptingapplications for Assistant Professor of Psychology position, which is a full-time, 9-month, tenure-track position. Theposition begins August 10, 2026. Forbest consideration, all application documents must be received by March 30,2026, however, the positions will remain open until filled.
Located about 30 miles south of Albuquerque in rural Valencia County, theUniversity of New Mexico-Valencia Campus is a two-year branch campus of theUniversity of New Mexico. With an emphasis on teaching excellence, ValenciaCampus offers vocational and technical courses as well as academic transfercourses to the citizens of Valencia and northern Socorro counties. The facultyand staff serve a student body of approximately 2,500 each semester.

Summary of duties and responsibilities: Provide 24 credit hours of classroom instruction across theacademic year (fall and spring semesters). Responsibilities include maintainingattendance, scholastic, and student records, as well as posting and maintainingoffice hours as per UNM Valencia Campus policy. Also, there is expectedparticipation in college committee, curriculum development initiatives,outcomes assessment, professional development (directly related to teachingfield), classroom technology training, departmental projects, and other areasof service and scholarship as appropriate.
Special Instructionsto Applicants: If selected for an interview, applicant shouldbe prepared to present a teaching demonstration (subject matter to be announcedand based on the candidate's area of expertise).

- Doctoral degree in Psychology.
- At least one year of experience teaching Psychology courses at the post-secondary level, to include Introduction to Psychology.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrated excellence in teaching a wide range of psychology courses.
- At least one year of experience teaching Psychology courses at a two-year or community college, to include Introduction to Psychology.
- Evidence of commitment to service and professional development.
- Experience teaching in a variety of modalities, such as online or hybrid/blended courses.
- Demonstrated knowledge and implementation of current teaching methodologies in active learning.
A demonstrated commitment to cultivate an understanding of the rich and varied cultures of New Mexico and to the success of the university's mission to serve local and global communities
