Job Description

Description:

I. Customer Service

a. Ensure a welcoming store environment that reflects the Co-op’s values and purpose through supporting and advancing existing procedures and policies.

b. Assist customers with product questions, in prompt, friendly, courteous manner, referring them to other staff when necessary.

c. Refer customers to third party information sources as needed.

d. Provide assistance with special orders and other prompt, friendly, courteous customer service.

e. When processing deliveries, set aside special orders, match products with special order forms and notify customers.

f. Read third party publications and manufacturers’ literature to stay abreast of latest developments in nutrition and supplements.

g. Attend all required meetings, trainings, and workshops. Take responsibility for self-education and staying informed.

h. Answer and route phone calls, take and route messages as needed.

i. Report customer suggestions, comments, and complaints to the Wellness Manager.

II. Merchandising & Department Maintenance

a. Meet regularly with Wellness Manager to discuss department matters of product selection, promotions, customer service and inventory.

b. Ensure shelves/coolers are fully stocked and rotated to ensure freshness and turnover.

c. Promptly call vendors to resolve issues with received orders (broken items, mispicks, etc.)

d. Plan and maintain attractive, fully stocked, rotated and faced sections.

e. Work with Wellness Manager to ensure that price, product-related and promotional signage is accurate, up-to-date and follows the co-op’s established format.

f. Ensure that Wellness display, prep and storage areas are maintained in clean, orderly condition, meeting health department standards.

g. Ensure accurate shelf tags and price labels.

III. Efficiency & Productivity

a. Devote majority of shift to working on the sales floor.

b. Establish appropriate priorities, manage and use time well.

c. Cross train in the store as a whole, and perform other duties as assigned.

IV. Teamwork

a. Be available on the floor as much as possible to assist customers and staff.

b. Maintain honest, direct, and respectful communications with co-workers and managers and take initiative in problem solving.

c. Actively participate in all department and storewide meetings.

d. Attend quarterly inventories.

V. Other Duties

a. Perform other tasks assigned by Wellness Manager.

Requirements:

· Experience serving the public.

· Ability to project an outgoing, friendly personality.

· Interest in nutrition, supplements and natural body care.

· Accuracy, attention to detail.

· Ability to handle multiple demands.

· Ability to stay calm under pressure.

· Ability to stand for long periods.

· Ability to lift 50 lbs. continuously.

· Regular, predictable attendance.

· Willingness and ability to learn and grow to meet the changing requirements of the job.

· Desired: Fluency in Spanish.
