Job Description
This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Staff IT Engineer in Germany.
This is a deeply technical IT engineering role that goes far beyond traditional support, combining systems architecture, automation, and end-user experience at scale. You will be responsible for building and evolving the internal IT ecosystem that enables a fast-growing organization to operate efficiently, securely, and with minimal friction. The role blends hands-on engineering work—such as API integrations, identity and device management automation, and backend system design—with direct interaction with employees to resolve complex issues. You will help design a highly automated, event-driven internal infrastructure that connects tools, workflows, and data across the business. At the same time, you will serve as a key point of contact for employees, ensuring both technical resolution and a high-quality, human-centered support experience. This is a high-impact position for someone who thrives in systems thinking, enjoys eliminating manual work through automation, and wants to shape the future of internal IT in a modern engineering-driven environment.
You will own and evolve internal IT systems and automation frameworks, ensuring reliability, scalability, and seamless user experience across the organization. Your responsibilities include:
- Managing and resolving complex end-to-end IT issues, identifying root causes and implementing durable technical fixes rather than temporary solutions.
- Designing and implementing automation across device management, identity systems, onboarding/offboarding workflows, and employee lifecycle processes.
- Building integrations between IT platforms and internal systems using APIs, event-driven architecture, and backend services to reduce manual intervention.
- Developing and maintaining scalable internal services and workflows using modern engineering practices, including stateless architectures, queues, and APIs.
- Improving and automating identity, access management, and security policies across tools such as Okta, Google Workspace, and device management systems.
- Collaborating cross-functionally to ensure IT systems support organizational productivity while maintaining strong documentation, observability, and scalability standards.
The ideal candidate combines strong IT systems expertise with a product-minded engineering approach and a passion for automation. You should bring:
- Extensive experience in IT engineering, infrastructure, systems administration, or automation-focused roles with strong technical depth.
- Proven ability to design and automate interactions between IT systems using APIs, scripting, and integration workflows.
- Strong knowledge of device management, identity management, and enterprise IT tooling in modern cloud-based environments.
- Experience building or contributing to backend systems using technologies such as TypeScript, APIs, event-driven architectures, or similar frameworks.
- Hands-on mindset with strong debugging, root-cause analysis, and problem-solving capabilities across complex systems.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to support end users with both technical clarity and empathy.
- A proactive, systems-thinking approach with the ability to challenge existing processes and design scalable improvements.
- Competitive salary and equity package
- Fully remote-friendly environment with flexibility across locations
- 10-year stock option exercise window for long-term financial flexibility
- Fully paid family leave (with plans for international expansion)
- Generous budget for equipment, software, and office setup
- $100/month learning and development budget, plus support for conferences
- Comprehensive health insurance (for eligible regions), including coverage for dependents in the US
- High-impact engineering environment with strong autonomy and ownership
