Position Overview
The Facilities and Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations, maintenance, and strategic planning of facilities across campuses in IL and OH. This role ensures that all physical environments are safe, functional, compliant, and conducive to student life. The area of responsibility for this role is very wide and thus requires thorough knowledge of various company processes and collaboration with all departments.
Key Responsibilities:
Facilities & Operations Oversight
- Oversee all facilities and maintenance operations, including health, safety, and physical security across campus locations.
- Ensure facilities and infrastructure are fully operational and aligned with institutional needs.
- Identify and coordinate with management on resolutions to operational support needs.
- Collaborate with departments to address operational requirements related to facilities, partnerships, IT, and infrastructure.
- Perform routine maintenance, minor repairs, and on-site troubleshooting to address day-to-day facility issues in a timely manner.
Planning, Processes & Documentation
- Update and manage plans, processes, and supporting documentation related to physical facilities and technical infrastructure, operations and maintenance programs, and health and safety at the College.
- Update standardized procedures to ensure consistency and efficiency across all campuses.
Vendor & Procurement Management
- Manage third-party vendor relationships supporting facilities and operational needs.
- Oversee procurement of equipment and supplies, including coordination of installation.
- Determine appropriate balance between in-house execution and vendor engagement based on scope, cost, and urgency of work.
Operational Performance & Compliance
- Regularly evaluate the efficiency of business procedures according to organizational objectives and apply improvements.
- Ensure that operations are conducted in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and institutional standards.
- Maintain readiness for inspections related to safety, facilities, and regulatory compliance.
- Serve as the point contact for all facility-related matters.
- Develop and enforce safety policies and emergency response procedures.
Strategic Initiatives & Expansion Support
- Support the College’s real estate expansion across all campuses.
- Assist with site preparation, setup, and operational readiness for new or expanded locations, including direct involvement in light buildout and setup activities.
- Assume additional projects and responsibilities as needed.
Qualifications
- Associates required in Facilities Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or related field; BSc/BA preferred.
- 3-4 years min of facilities or operations management experience, preferably in higher education or multi-site environments.
- Proven experience managing multiple locations and teams.
Knowledge, Skills, & abilities
- Responsiveness and timely turnaround are an absolute must for success in this role.
- Working knowledge of computers and especially Microsoft Windows Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Organizational skills and management ability.
- Ability to show initiative and commitment to the college's goals.
- Ability to readily adapt to changing requirements.

Work Environment:
Physical Demands
- Frequent travel between campuses.
- Occasional evening or weekend work for emergencies or special projects.
- Ability to stand, walk, and move for extended periods during site inspections and project oversight.
- Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, and reach when inspecting equipment or facilities.
- Occasionally lift and carry materials or equipment up to 25–50 pounds.
- Visual acuity to review plans, inspect facilities, and identify safety hazards.
- Tolerance for exposure to noise, dust, chemicals, and varying temperatures typical of maintenance and construction environments.
Work Location
- On-site with frequent travel between campuses.
