Position: Bilingual Literacy Specialist Tutors
Program: Stay Over Program
Reports to: Program Director
Compensation: Non-Exempt $25-$28 per hour, 15 hrs/ week commensurate with experience. Benefits include sick and vacation time

Position Description:
A Bilingual Literacy Specialist plays a crucial role in supporting students' literacy development, particularly those who are bilingual or learning English as an additional language. Here are some key responsibilities and qualifications typically associated with this role:
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess Literacy Levels: Use various diagnostic tools to evaluate students' reading and writing skills.
- Develop Interventions: Create and implement individualized and group literacy interventions tailored to students' needs.
- Collaborate with Teachers: Work closely with classroom teachers to integrate effective literacy strategies into their instruction.
- Monitor Progress: Track students' progress and adjust interventions as needed to ensure they are meeting literacy goals.
- Professional Development: Provide training and support to teachers on best practices in literacy instruction.
- Engage Families: Involve families and communities in literacy initiatives to support students' learning at home.
- Support Diverse Populations: Address the unique needs of bilingual students and those with special needs.
Other Organizational Duties:
- Conduct business in accordance with the Mission Action Employee Handbook, exercising sound judgment and serving the best interests of the agency and the community.
- Commit yourself to treating each community member with respect and dignity.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Background in and passion for working with low-income and immigrant communities around issues of affordable housing, land use, and/or immigrant & worker rights; familiarity with these issues in the Mission District and San Francisco, highly desired.
- Bilingual in spoken and written Spanish, highly desired

The pay range for this role is:
25 - 28 USD per hour(117-SOP & DHS)
