About This Position
The Director of Admissions is responsible for managing and coordinating all aspects of the admissions process for the skilled nursing facility. This role ensures a smooth, compassionate, and efficient transition for new residents and their families, while maintaining occupancy goals and compliance with all regulatory requirements. The Director serves as the primary liaison between prospective residents, families, referral sources, and facility staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage the entire admissions process from inquiry to move-in.
- Provide tours, explain services, and answer questions for prospective residents and families.
- Collaborate with the Director of Nursing, Social Services, and other departments to assess resident needs and ensure appropriate placement.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all admissions activities in compliance with state, federal, and facility policies.
- Assist in interviewing residents/guardians/sponsors and obtaining required admission information and signatures.
- Abstract information from referral records to receive authorizations from insurance companies.
- Coordinate pre-admission assessments and ensure all required paperwork is completed.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with hospitals, physicians, discharge planners, and other referral sources.
- Monitor occupancy levels and implement strategies to meet census goals.
- Support residents and families emotionally during the transition process.
- Participate in marketing and community outreach activities to promote the facility.
Minimum of at least 1 year in Admissions, Marketing, Business Office, or Case Management experience in a healthcare or long-term care setting.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.
- Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and insurance processes.
- Knowledgeable in the use of Point Click Care or Electronic Medical Record system preferred.
- Experience with computers, data input/retrieval/output functions required.
- Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
- Compassionate, organized, and detail oriented.
Work Environment:
This position works in a healthcare facility environment with frequent interaction with residents, families, and healthcare professionals. Travel to referral sources and community events will be required.
