About the Role

As the Healthcare Architect Studio Leader at HFG Architecture, you will lead and manage the healthcare architectural studio, overseeing the design and execution of healthcare projects. You will be responsible for providing strategic direction, managing client relationships, and ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality healthcare facilities. Your expertise in healthcare design, project management, and team leadership will contribute to the continued growth and success of the studio.

Key Responsibilities & Duties:

Studio Leadership:

  • Provide strategic direction and leadership for the healthcare architectural studio.
  • Foster a collaborative and innovative studio culture, promoting design excellence and professional growth.
  • Allocate resources and monitor progress to achieve studio goals and meet performance metrics.
  • Mentor and develop studio team members, promoting their skill enhancement and career advancement.
  • Collaborate across offices and studios with staffing to distribute workload.

Healthcare Design:

  • Lead the design and development of healthcare projects, ensuring functional and aesthetically pleasing solutions.
  • Collaborate with clients, stakeholders, and interdisciplinary teams to understand project requirements and goals.
  • Develop innovative design concepts that enhance patient experience, operational efficiency, and staff well-being.
  • Incorporate evidence-based design principles and sustainable practices into healthcare facility designs.

Project Management:

  • Oversee multiple healthcare projects simultaneously, from conceptualization to completion.
  • Develop project plans, timelines, and budgets, ensuring adherence to project constraints and client expectations.
  • Monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement effective strategies to mitigate challenges.
  • Coordinate with internal teams, external consultants, and contractors to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Oversight and guidance of project managers within the studio to achieve these same outcomes.

Client Relationship Management:

  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with healthcare clients, understanding their unique needs and objectives.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for client communication, addressing concerns and providing regular updates.
  • Collaborate with clients to develop comprehensive project briefs and translate their vision into actionable design strategies.
  • Present design concepts and proposals to clients, incorporating their feedback and ensuring client satisfaction.

Quality Assurance:

  • Ensure compliance with healthcare industry standards, codes, and regulations throughout the design process.
  • Conduct thorough quality reviews of design documents, drawings, and specifications.
  • Monitor construction activities and address design-related issues to ensure adherence to design intent and quality standards.
  • Implement and promote best practices for healthcare design within the studio.

Travel Requirements:

This role includes occasional travel for project-related needs, including site visits, client meetings, or industry events.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture.
  • Professional registration/license as an architect.
  • Significant experience in healthcare architecture, with a focus on designing healthcare facilities.
  • Proven track record of successfully leading and managing architectural projects, including team leadership and client management.
  • In-depth knowledge of healthcare industry standards, regulations, and best practices.
  • Proficiency in architectural design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp) and project management tools.
  • Strong design sensibility and the ability to translate complex requirements into innovative design solutions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with clients, project teams, and stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet project deadlines.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring abilities to inspire and develop studio team members.
