About This Position

Burke & Herbert Bank & Trust

Summary/Objective

Administer fiduciary and investment accounts including trust under will, court order, or foundation accounts. Represent the Bank and qualify as executor for the Bank where named and provide service for grantor trusts and retirement accounts.

Essential Functions

  1. Provide liaison between portfolio management team and client where appropriate
  2. File annual court accountings and respond to inquiries from the various Commissioners of Accounts
  3. Assist in the filing of fiduciary income tax returns. Ensure returns are filed, taxes are paid and refunds are received
  4. Facilitate trust, agency and estate receipts and disbursements using Trust Accounting System
  5. Research and solve most account problems independently
  6. Assist in development of new business
  7. Ensure timely mailing of Trust Committee Review and Quality Review letters.

Other Duties

  1. Complies with all policies and procedures as applied to the Bank's BSA/AML policy.
  2. Perform other duties as assigned.

  1. Excellent analytical skills.
  2. Strong verbal and communication skills.
  3. Ability to organize, prioritize and delegate in the service of clients.

Supervisory Responsibility

It is anticipated that this position will assume a people leadership role in the future.

Work Environment

This job operates in a clerical office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and scanning machines.

Physical Demands

This position requires manual dexterity, the ability to lift files and opening cabinets. This position requires bending, stooping or standing as necessary.

Travel

Travel may be required for this position.

Education and Experience

  1. College degree (or equivalent additional related experience) required.
  2. Professional designation (e.g., CTFA) and/or advanced degree preferred.
  3. 5 - 7 years of progressively responsible experience in a trust related positions.
  4. Experience leading professional staff is preferred.
  5. Familiarity with investments and portfolio management.
  6. Strong knowledge of the Virginia and/or West Virginia Code, where relevant, as it relates to trusts and estates.
  7. Working knowledge of word-processing and spreadsheet applications.
