About This Position

šŸŒŽ The Opportunity
In the next 30 years, the world will transform every part of the built environment to be climate positive green infrastructure. But today’s renewable energy development process can’t move fast enough to meet global goals. Paces exists to change that. We are providing software and services to accelerate power development - unlocking one of the greatest opportunities of our time: transforming how infrastructure gets built and ensuring it’s built with renewable energy.

šŸ› ļø Our Solution
Paces is building the development engine for power projects and renewable infrastructure. We have built Agentic AI that automates early-stage due diligence and pairs it with in-house expertise to accelerate late-stage diligence. The result is projects that move from siting to construction-ready in a fraction of the time. Our platform supports renewable energy and data center developers, real estate firms, EV charging companies, and more by streamlining siting, interconnection, and permitting.

šŸ§‘ā€šŸŽØ Our Team
We are building a team where people can proudly say their time at Paces is the most impactful, meaningful work of their career. Our amazing team in Brooklyn, New York includes incredible team members from tech companies like Meta AI, DeepMind, and Tesla; various high growth startups; as well as industry leaders from TotalEnergies, Con Edison and GE.
Paces is growing rapidly and looking for a Head of Finance to own Paces’ financial strategy and day-to-day finance operations. This is a hands-on leadership role: you’ll run the core finance function (planning, reporting, controls) while bringing project development finance context to help us build and sell software that actually matches how renewable projects get developed and financed.

šŸ† What You'll Achieve
  • Own company financial strategy: budgeting, forecasting, runway planning, and scenario modeling.
  • Maintain monthly/quarterly reporting: P&L, cash flow, balance sheet, KPIs, board materials.
  • Run the close process and ensure clean financials (with external accounting support like Pilot).
  • Own cash management: payments, collections, vendor contracts, expense controls, and approval workflows.
  • Oversee systems and tooling: accounting, invoicing, billing, expenses, and reporting dashboards.
  • Partner on headcount plan, comp modeling, equity plan inputs, payroll/benefits coordination (with providers).
  • Lead finance workstreams for fundraising and diligence: dataroom readiness, metrics, cohort analysis, and narrative support.
  • Produce investor/board finance updates: performance vs plan, risks, and clear asks/decisions.
  • Own cap table hygiene and support financing/legal processes with counsel as needed.
šŸ“ˆ Requirements
  • 6+ years of corporate finance experience.
  • Experience working in corporate finance at a real estate, power developer or in a related industry
  • Experience making strategic decisions about finance with imperfect information.
  • Skilled at balancing immediate financial needs with long-term scalability.
✨ About You
  • A strategic finance thinker who connects financial decisions to business impact.
  • Hands-on; willing to dive into broken systems and fix and scale them.
  • Excited about the future of AI, and building infrastructure that powers the energy transition.
šŸš€ Bonus Points
  • Deep understanding of power project development economics: development cost stacks, timelines, risk, and key value drivers.
  • Experience building/maintain project-level models to translate customer reality into product + GTM decisions (e.g., time-to-interconnect impact, budget risk, portfolio prioritization).
  • Track market shifts that affect development finance (incentives, tax credit dynamics, cost of capital, interconnection/policy impacts) and translate into strategy.
  • 1+ years of early-stage startup experience.

šŸ’° Compensation and Benefits
  • 180k-250k annual base
  • Bonus
  • Competitive equity compensation
  • 401(k) matching
  • Health, Dental and Vision insurance
  • Paid company holidays & PTO
  • Hybrid work in the office in Williamsburg, Brooklyn ~3x per week
