Groundskeeping Intern at Mary Greeley Medical Center – Ames, Iowa

Mary Greeley Medical Center is seeking a motivated Groundskeeping Intern to support the care, appearance, and safety of our hospital campus and MGMCserviced outbuildings. Under general supervision, this role performs a variety of groundskeeping and landscaping tasks, contributing directly to a welcoming and healing environment for our patients, visitors, and staff.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with maintenance of MGMC landscaping, including rooftop and healing gardens.
• Trim and prune trees, bushes, flowers, and grasses.
• Weed, mulch, and refresh flower beds.
• Mow and trim grass as needed.
• Operate basic groundskeeping and landscaping equipment.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by Facilities Management leadership.

Qualifications

Required

• Valid driver’s license with ability to remain eligible under MGMC’s insurance policy.
• Ability to read, write, and understand English, including equipment manuals and regulatory documentation.
• Functional knowledge of basic building and groundskeeping equipment.
• Compliance with required stroke education per regulatory standards.

• Heavy work is exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly.

Preferred

• High school diploma or equivalent.
